PGS Worldwide is seeking an Instrumentation Technician in Orlando, FL for a one-year contract-to-hire role supporting a leading aerospace & defense company.
The Instrumentation Technician will support Structures and Environmental Test Laboratories by installing, calibrating, and connecting instrumentation used for laboratory testing. This role is well-suited for candidates with strong electrical, mechanical, troubleshooting, or automotive technician experience.
Required Skills
- High school diploma.
- 2+ years of electrical knowledge, including ability to interpret electrical schematics.
- Understanding of Ohm’s Law for resistance, current, and voltage calculations.
- 2+ years of experience fabricating electronic cables, connector assemblies, or electrical circuit boards.
- 2+ years of experience calibrating and operating digital data acquisition systems.
- 2+ years of experience operating electronic test equipment.
- Experience with instrumentation such as accelerometers, thermocouples, load cells, pressure transducers, displacement transducers, or acoustic transducers.
- Ability to connect instrumentation to data acquisition systems and signal conditioning equipment.
- Strong diagnostic troubleshooting skills with electrical systems, instrumentation, computers, or vehicles.
- Strong computer skills for data recording, transfer, communication, and documentation.
- Strong math, writing, and communication skills.
- Ability to drive company vehicles and golf carts.
- Ability to obtain an ATF Explosives Possessors License.
- Ability to obtain a DoD Secret security clearance.
Preferred Skills
- Automotive technician experience.
- Proficiency with digital data acquisition systems.
- J-STD solder certification.
- Experience with electro-mechanical sensors and actuators.
- Mechanical aptitude and mechanical testing experience.
- Experience supporting laboratory, environmental, structural, or instrumentation testing.
What You’ll Do
- Install, calibrate, and connect instrumentation for test lab activities.
- Work with accelerometers, thermocouples, load cells, pressure transducers, displacement transducers, and acoustic transducers.
- Connect instrumentation to data acquisition systems and signal conditioning equipment.
- Collect instrumentation response data and process it into customer-required formats.
- Conduct routine and specialized laboratory tests according to test requirements and procedures.
- Interface with internal customers to review data, requirements, and test results.
- Support accurate, on-time data delivery for structures and environmental test activities.
- Fabricate electronic cables, connector assemblies, and electrical circuit boards as needed.
- Troubleshoot electrical systems, instrumentation, and test equipment.
Pay
- $32.45/hour
