Palmer Engineering is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Civil Engineer with 5-10 years of professional experience to join either our Jacksonville or Orlando, Florida offices. This role offers a unique opportunity to gain hands‑on experience in the planning, design, and implementation of transportation projects.

- Lead and support the design of transportation projects, including highways, streets, intersections, and pedestrian facilities
- Perform field investigations and collect data for roadway assessments, Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) reviews, and other transportation-related analyses
- Utilize engineering software (e.g., Open Roads Designer, Microstation, AutoCAD) to create detailed plans, perform quantity estimates, generate roadway alignments and cross sections, analyze survey data, and specifications
- Assist with marketing and business development efforts
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including urban planners, environmental scientists, and construction managers, to ensure project success
- Prepare and lead project reports, technical documents, and presentations for clients and stakeholders
- Participate in community engagement efforts to gather input and address public concerns related to transportation projects
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations and industry standards
- Stay current with advancements in transportation engineering and sustainability practices
- Must have a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field
- Professional Engineer (PE) license
- 5-10 years of experience in transportation engineering on FDOT projects
- Proficiency with industry‑standard design software such as Open Roads Designer, Microstation, AutoCAD, HEC‑RAS, or similar
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
- Experience and familiarity with the procurement process for FDOT projects
- Proficient in MS Office Suite programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project)
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
- Ability to manage time effectively and handle multiple tasks concurrently
Eagerness to learn and take on new challenges in a fast‑paced environment - Experience as Engineer of Record (EOR) on FDOT projects, Pavement Designs, Typical Section Packages, and Design Variations and Exceptions preferred
