Overview
Kimley-Horn's is seeking a Mechanical Engineer-In-Training with 2+ years of experience to join the Orlando, Florida (FL) office's MEP team!
Responsibilities- Support the design of HVAC and mechanical systems for commercial, hospitality, municipal, and federal projects
- Perform HVAC load calculations, ventilation analysis, and assist with system sizing and selection
- Develop Revit/BIM models and construction documents, including ductwork and piping layouts
- Assist in preparation of technical specifications and energy compliance documentation (e.g., COMcheck)
- Coordinate with internal disciplines and support collaboration with architects, contractors, and project teams
- Conduct field investigations and site visits to document existing conditions and support design development
- Assist with construction administration tasks such as submittal reviews and responding to RFIs
- Contribute to project delivery by completing assigned tasks with increasing independence and accountability
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering (ABET accredited)
- 2+ years of relevant mechanical/HVAC experience
- EIT/EI certification or ability to obtain
- Working knowledge of:
- HVAC systems (load calculations, ductwork, basic system design)
- Plumbing systems (basic layouts and coordination)
- Experience with Revit or BIM-based design tools
- Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
- Demonstrated ability to manage tasks, meet deadlines, and contribute to a team environment
- Preferred Qualifications:
- 3+ years of experience with increasing responsibility in design and project coordination
- Experience supporting multiple project types, including commercial, hospitality, municipal, and/or federal sectors
- Demonstrated growth toward independent task execution and technical problem-solving
