This Opportunity
WSP is currently initiating a search for a Senior Plumbing Engineer for our Orlando location. This role will actively participate in the full project cycle with a focus on complex sector work such as healthcare, pharmaceutical, life sciences, labs, and commercial high‑rise projects from the design phase through the final construction close‑out. The position involves design services for high‑quality, high‑profile, national and international projects with a building footprint of over 30 million square feet of medical facilities.

- Collect, compile, and analyze data from the physical work site, surveys, blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings to support project development, design, and construction.
- Perform professional plumbing engineering work; conduct research and inspections of site conditions, equipment, resources, building infrastructure, and usage; install plumbing systems and verify conformance with applicable rules, standards, and permits. Preference for extensive medical gas design.
- Participate in incorporating advanced technology, modeling techniques, concept development, design requirements, load calculations, and operating strategies to ensure proper installation and functioning of equipment and systems.
- Work, independently or as part of a cross‑functional team of engineers, planners, and professionals to execute project work; assist in layout of equipment, calculation of costs and quantities, and ensure compliance with specifications and regulatory documents.
- Prepare data and visualizations such as tables, charts, reports, sketches, calculations, technical drawings, spreadsheets, and illustrations for interpretation or presentation of findings.
- Maintain quality‑control standards for accurate measurements and calculations, statistical analysis, and reporting.
- Assist in developing and scoping small‑to‑medium‑sized projects.
- Contribute to technical reports and presentations that explain research and findings to improve, prevent, control, restore, or address design and/or construction issues.
- Conduct engineering studies and surveys to obtain information on design and construction problems or plan for future needs.
- Analyze data from site investigations, produce action plans for low‑to-mid‑level risk mitigation.
- Collaborate with engineers, architects, and building authorities on federal, state, regional and local levels; preference for experience with AHCA.
- Exercise responsible and ethical decision‑making regarding company resources, conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies.
- Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Plumbing or Mechanical Engineering, or closely related discipline or significant years of experience in the plumbing industry.
- 5 to 7 years of relevant post‑education experience in engineering discipline and prior plumbing and mechanical design experience; experience with medical gas design is preferred.
- Engineer in Training Certification.
- Knowledge of plumbing and mechanical engineering principles, practices, processes, design/build, and application to project work‑related issues.
- Experience with building and infrastructure planning, design, and construction management, including rehabilitation and new design.
- Ability to coordinate with agency regulators and understand requirements; experience with AHCA is preferred.
- Knowledge of relevant plumbing and mechanical system and construction laws, codes, regulations, compliance practices, and record‑keeping requirements.
- Capable interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas effectively and professionally to an engineering and non‑engineering audience.
- Effective self‑leadership with attention to detail, results orientation, and managing multiple priorities in a dynamic work environment.
- Ability to learn new techniques, perform multiple tasks simultaneously, follow instruction, work independently, and comply with company policies.
- Moderate proficiency with technical writing, automation, software, technology, math principles, predictive models, spreadsheets, and tools.
