CEI Project Engineer; Transportation Engineer

Job Description

CDM Smith’s CEI team in Maitland, FL is seeking a CEI Roadway and Bridge Transportation Engineer.

• Lead and supervise construction inspection activities at roadway, bridge, drainage, erosion & control, and maintenance and traffic field site locations.
• Maintain relationships with clients and contractors to ensure construction activities are on schedule and meet contract requirements.
• Estimate manpower needs, schedule, and assign work to meet client‑set completion deadlines.
• Supervise the work of field inspection staff.
• Plan, develop, coordinate, and direct large and important construction projects or those of major scope and complexity.
• Participate in new business development and maintain existing client relationships.
• Act as a mentor for junior‑level employees.
• Assist in developing and implementing new strategies to enhance CEI capabilities.
• Keep abreast of new methods and developments affecting CDM Smith and recommend changes to current programs or implement new ones as warranted.

Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Transportation, Structural Engineering or a related discipline. 3 years of related experience. Domestic and/or international travel may be required.

Solid knowledge of Computer Aided Design and Drafting (CADD) 3D and 4D software and practices; solid knowledge of engineering principles of design; expert knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, etc.); excellent verbal and written communication skills; basic knowledge of design standards (AASHTO, NACTO, etc.).

Appropriate and valid driver’s license required.

Approximately 20% travel.
