Civil Roadway Engineer

AECOM is currently seeking an experienced Roadway Engineer to support and oversee transportation and infrastructure projects within the Orlando, Florida region. This role will provide technical expertise, leadership, and construction engineering inspection support to ensure projects meet contract requirements, quality standards, and schedules.

• Serve as a senior technical resource and advisor for assigned projects and team members.
• Provide specialized technical input to studies and design work within the area of expertise.
• Develop study and design procedures to facilitate high‑quality, cost‑effective work by others.
• Participate in interdisciplinary review of project deliverables and provide constructive technical feedback.
• Act as Engineer of Record for small to medium transportation improvement projects.
• Develop construction cost estimates and estimates of technical effort with accuracy and attention to detail.
• Apply expertise throughout all steps of completing the discipline component of PS&E packages.
• Perform quality control review of design calculations, drawings, and technical documentation.
• Prepare and review technical specification sections for completeness and compliance.
• Provide input to the development of engineering budgets and schedules to meet project requirements.
• Mentor junior engineers and technical staff to support professional development and knowledge transfer.
• Manage client and stakeholder communications regarding technical matters and project status.
• Ensure compliance with FDOT design criteria, standards, and regulatory requirements throughout project delivery.
• Lead small to mid‑sized project teams and coordinate efforts across multiple disciplines.
• Perform independent technical reviews demonstrating knowledge of multiple engineering disciplines.
• Identify opportunities for process improvement and innovation in design methodologies and project delivery.

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering plus 6 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency.
• Valid U.S. Driver’s License required to visit project sites, clients, and AECOM offices;
  Motor Vehicle Records review required.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license in Florida or ability to obtain reciprocity within 6 months.
• U.S. Citizenship required.
• Familiarity with FDOT plan production and design criteria.

• Strong judgment in proactively identifying and solving routine and non‑routine operational challenges, establishing operational objectives and requirements, organizing programs and projects, and developing standards and guidance across diverse engineering functions.
• Experience with Bentley Open Roads and 3D Modeling.
• Ability to design typical sections, alignments, plan and section drawings.
• Ability to lead small teams to complete projects.
• Perform independent technical reviews with knowledge of multiple disciplines.

$100,000 – $100,000 per year
