About this Role

As an onsite Project Manager for a manufacturing plant in Jacksonville, FL, you will supervise, direct and coordinate the planning, design and construction activities within an active production environment. This role requires a strong understanding of manufacturing operations, facility infrastructure, and the unique challenges associated with executing projects in operating facilities. The ideal candidate will have experience managing projects within the food & beverage or other manufacturing industries, with a solid understanding of production processes, packaging systems, and plant utilities including compressed air, electrical distribution, water treatment, steam, refrigeration, and process systems.

You will serve as the primary liaison between plant operations, engineering, contractors, consultants, and stakeholders to ensure projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and in alignment with operational objectives. The successful candidate must be highly organized, capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously, and possess excellent communication and leadership skills. This role will include on‑site work during pre‑construction and construction phases of a project and the candidate must be able to independently manage multiple small to medium‑size projects with low to medium complexity.

Key Responsibilities
  • Safety Management – Promote a strong safety culture and ensure all project activities comply with site safety requirements. Work closely with Safety Officers to oversee contractor safety performance, permitting, and safe work practices. Participate in project risk assessments, Job Safety Analyses (JSA’s), and hazard reviews.
  • Manufacturing & Process Integration – Collaborate with production teams to minimize operational disruptions and ensure project execution supports manufacturing requirements. Understand manufacturing processes, production lines, packaging systems, material handling systems, and process equipment. Support equipment installations, line modifications, and facility upgrades. Coordinate project activities in operational environments while maintaining production continuity and safety compliance.
  • Cost Management – Monitor project costs during all project phases with limited supervision. Assist supervisory staff in managing project budget and cash flow analysis. Prepare and/or review cost estimates with limited supervision. Understand the contractor billing and change order process; review these documents with limited help from supervisor.
  • Schedule Management – Understand the project schedule and work to ensure on‑time completion from design and construction teams. Create schedules using scheduling software with limited help from supervisor concerning activity linkage. Take initiative when schedule concerns arise to work with the project team and Consertus supervisor to correct. Prepare make‑up schedules to get work back on track. Manage the project close‑out process.
  • Quality Management – Assure selection of materials and products that conform to quality requirements and applicable standards set forth by owner. Perform reviews with limited help from supervisor to ensure construction details are quality focused and drawings are coordinated. Perform field inspections during construction to ensure design intent and specifications are met.
  • Contract Administration – Prepare and maintain documentation and project reports as required. Work with governmental agencies to obtain proper permits, inspections, and occupancy certificates. Manage hours for each task to ensure the amount allocated in the contract is not exceeded.
  • Client Relations and Business Development – Maintain relationship with client on an ongoing basis to enhance client satisfaction and increase potential for additional business. Assist with marketing and business development activities. Attend evening board meetings dependent upon client.
Qualifications/Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, or related discipline) preferred.
  • Degrees in Construction Management or other related technical fields will also be considered.
