* Leidos' Defense Systems Sector is seeking a talented  
** Mechanical Engineer
** for its Virtual Training and Simulation (VTS) line of business. With offices across the United States engaging in the defense, space, cyber and commercial fields, Leidos provides responsive, cost-effective engineering, scientific and IT solutions. The selected candidate will support the Modeling, Simulation and Training team in  
** Orlando, FL,
** designing extremely sophisticated simulators that represent tactical vehicles. The VTS team designs and builds training systems for all branches of the miliary.

* Primary Responsibilities:

*
* + Create and maintain Technical Data Package (TDP) artifacts, including drawings, bills of materials (BOMs), and specifications.

+ Apply Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) in accordance with ASME Y14.5 standards.

+ Revise existing designs and develop new designs to enhance producibility and process efficiency.

+ Collaborate within integrated product teams (IPTs) to support drawing updates and production efforts.

+ Support production activities, including troubleshooting mechanical issues and assisting with corrective actions.

+ Assist in dispositioning non-conformances and supporting root cause and corrective action (RCCA) activities.

+ Participate in continuous improvement initiatives.

+ Independently manage tasks and projects with guidance from senior engineers.

* Basic Qualifications:

*
* + Bachelor's degree in engineering from an ABET accredited institution with 2+ years of relevant experience. Additional experience may be considered in leiu of a degree.

+ US Citizenship.

+ Proficiency Solid Works and AutoCAD.

+ Experience working within Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) environments.

+ Basic understanding of GD&T (ASME Y14.5) and tolerance stack-up analysis.

+ Understanding of engineering drawings, specifications, and configuration management processes.

+ Experience supporting issue resolution in a production environment.

+ Willingness to facilitate technical meetings with internal and external stakeholders, including design, peer, and tabletop reviews.

+ Strong attention-to-detail, analytical thinking, and problem-solving skills.

+ Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

+ Self-starter with a demonstrated ability to work independently and in team environments.

+ Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

* Preferred Qualifications:

* + Active Secret security clearance or the ability to obtain a Secret security clarence (in DISS).

+ Experience supporting DoD programs

+ Prior work in assembly, integration, and testing.

+ Experience supporting rapid development, prototyping, or fast-paced engineering programs.

+ Familiarity with ISO
9001 and AS9100 quality management systems.

+ Knowledge of MIL-STD-31000 Technical Data Package (TDP) development.

+ Understanding of cost, schedule, and programmatic impacts associated with engineering deliverables.
