Halff is seeking to hire an experienced transportation planning professional to join our Florida or Georgia-based teams as a Senior Transportation Planner. This position has been created to continue the growth of, and to assume a leadership role within the firm's transportation planning discipline.

Halff's Florida-based planning, public works, and transportation teams engage in exciting transportation planning projects throughout the states of Florida, Georgia, and beyond. The ideal person for this position can thrive in a collaborative work environment with an interdisciplinary team of planners, engineers, and designers on a variety of planning efforts with both public and private entities. We will prioritize candidates that wish to locate in our Atlanta, Tallahassee, or Tampa offices, although, candidates who wish to locate in one of our other Florida offices may also be considered on a case‑by‑case basis.

What you will do:
  • Lead and contribute to a variety of planning projects, including but not limited to: feasibility studies, comprehensive and master plans, corridor studies, multimodal and complete streets plans, bicycle and pedestrian network plans, safety action plans, long‑range transportation plans, congestion management plans, trail and greenway plans, concept studies, transit and mobility studies, grant applications, preliminary engineering studies, and technical reports
  • Guide the development of project documentation, technical analyses, and reports with a focus on quality and clarity
  • Manage public engagement, plan development, and technical report writing and document production, for each assigned project, including maps and graphic elements needed to convey the concepts and ideas generated in each planning effort
  • Interpret modeling output and communicating analytical findings with technical and non‑technical audiences
  • Strategically oversee project execution, balancing scope, schedule and budget to provide exceptional outcomes. Mentor younger staff
  • Balance client, company, and project team responsibilities
  • Oversee the preparation of high‑quality documents and deliverables
  • Cultivate and expand key client relationships, actively participating in business development, proposal strategy, and contract negotiations
What you will need:
  • 8+ years of experience in a planning capacity, including significant and recent experience in Transportation Planning and the private sector
  • 3+ years of project management experience as a private sector employee, including considerable experience in Georgia or Florida
  • Bachelor's degree in City/Regional/Urban Planning, Civil Engineering, or a closely related field
  • Strong knowledge of computer programs (GIS, Adobe Creative Suite, and Microsoft Office programs) and the ability to produce attractive maps, graphics, and written documents
  • Familiarity with the travel demand forecast software including but not limited to CUBE, Trans Cad, Synchro and/or VISSIM
  • Demonstrated abilities in facilitating community stakeholder input and public meetings, is a plus
  • Strong technical writing skills
  • Ability to travel periodically to client jurisdictions
  • AICP and/or other certifications/professional registrations from our allied professions (PE, RSP, ENV SP, LEED-ND, etc.), is a plus
