Senior Water / Wastewater Project Manager

Primary duties of this position will include overseeing scoping, planning, managing, directing, and monitoring all aspects of medium to large drinking water and wastewater projects and contracts with high degrees of technical complexity. The Senior Project Manager will effectively interface with clients while independently leading and supervising teams of engineers and CAD professionals to develop planning documents, preliminary engineering reports, detailed designs, and cost estimates.

• Serve as the client‑facing project manager for a variety of technical delivery projects
• Develop project design criteria, schematics and methods
• Prepare preliminary design, basis of design reports, routing and alignment studies, and other engineering reports
• Develop and write engineering specifications and front‑end documents
• Oversee the production of design drawings
• Develop and execute QA/QC and risk management plans for each project
• Work directly with the owner to ensure the project exceeds expectations
• Lead and/or support client management and business development activities including pursuit planning, proposals, interviews, and client strategy
• May perform detailed design work when needed and exhibit exceptional technical background
• Collaborate with leadership, other project managers, and technical staff across Florida to maintain HDR's commitment to excellent technical delivery, including mentoring, reviewing standards, QA/QC, conference abstract development, and scope/fee review
• Engage in client management activities and participate in strategy discussions to grow HDR's business in the Orlando and Central Florida area

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering
• 10 years related experience
• Minimum 5 years project management experience
• Professional engineering license recognized in the location (e.g., PE)
• MS Office and MS Project experience (Access experience a plus)
• Demonstrated leadership, business development and strategic planning skills
• Commitment to active participation in employee‑owned culture

• Master's degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering
• 12 years related experience in the water/wastewater industry
• Existing and established relationships with clients in the Orlando area water/wastewater marketplace
• Proven process mechanical detailed design experience and leadership in technical delivery programs
• Proven leadership and commitment to technical development and mentorship of staff
• Experience developing detailed scopes and fees for a wide variety of planning and design projects
• Excellent communication, time management, organizational, and interpersonal skills
• Experience supervising staff
• Preference for local candidates
