Responsibilities
The ideal Senior Design Engineer will provide engineered drawings for HVAC control systems, review specifications and contract drawings for assigned projects, and produce accurate schematics using AutoCAD. The role requires sizing control valves, dampers, air‑flow stations, and related components; designing systems with typical DDC control lines such as Schneider Electric, Tridium, or similar; writing and understanding sequence of operations for HVAC control systems;
assembling submittals and O&M documents; and mentoring junior design engineers to support their growth and development.
- Associate degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or other STEM field with 3‑5 years' experience in the relevant field.
- 4+ years of experience in controls design engineering OR 8+ years as a controls technician.
- Sound knowledge of electrical circuits, HVAC, sensors and signal types, and controls required.
- Familiarity with common control sequences including ASHRAE Guideline 36P.
- Demonstrated capability drafting control drawings in Visio, AutoCAD, or equivalent.
- Advanced computer skills and proficiency in MS Office Suite required.
- Must be able to deal with a large volume of work in a fast‑paced, time‑sensitive environment.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or other STEM field with 2‑4 years' experience in the relevant field.
- Experience designing control systems using Schneider Electric Eco Struxure and Space Logic.
- Working knowledge and understanding of security systems, including surveillance cameras, access control, and fire alarm systems.
