Overview
AECOM has an exciting opportunity for an Operation, Maintenance, and Monitoring (OMM) Technician to join our Remediation team in our Orlando, FL office. In this role, you will primarily support remedial OMM projects at client facilities and field sites. This includes the construction and startup assistance of various remediation systems. The candidate will ideally have experience in environmental remediation/sampling, operating various remediation systems and an interest in hands-on mechanical and technical problem-solving and troubleshooting.
Typical project work includes operating groundwater treatment systems, soil vapor extraction systems, and various media sampling (groundwater, vapor, surface water, sediment, and soil). The successful candidate will have the ability to communicate effectively with members of the project team and be able to work independently.
- Remediation System Operations (Primary responsibilities): Operating various remediation systems, including:
Bio-sparge and air sparge/soil vapor extraction systems;
Dual and multiphase extraction systems;
Groundwater pump-and-treat systems utilizing technologies such as granular activated carbon, zeolite, particle filtration, and air stripping with off-gas treatment. - System Monitoring & Maintenance (Primary responsibilities): Monitoring system performance daily; taking and passing operator exam(s) to demonstrate understanding of system operations and maintenance; remotely monitoring system performance; responding to specific alarm conditions outside of standard working hours; performing operation and maintenance (O&M) tasks and inspections of environmental remediation equipment including air compressors, regenerative blowers, and water transfer pumps; documenting all field activities and notes;
performing subcontractor oversight; and communicating effectively with the project team; ensuring compliance with health and safety standards; working within defined scopes, schedules, and budgets while producing quality work. - Fieldwork & Sampling (Secondary responsibilities): Conducting routine fieldwork such as groundwater, soil, or air sampling under the close supervision of field task leaders; performing soil, groundwater, surface water, waste, sediment, air, and vapor sampling; using field tablets and computers to efficiently access, track, and record environmental data.
- Experience in environmental remediation and sampling
- Experience operating groundwater treatment systems, soil vapor extraction systems, and related remediation equipment
- Interest in hands-on mechanical and technical problem-solving and troubleshooting
- Ability to communicate effectively with project teams and work independently
- Willingness to take/operator exams to demonstrate understanding of system operations and maintenance
