Water​/Wastewater Engineer

Role Description

Arcadis is looking for a Water/Wastewater Engineer to join our growing Resilience Water Team in Orlando or Jacksonville, Florida. The position offers a flexible hybrid work culture that balances remote and in‑office work.

We seek a self‑driven, creative, and energetic individual who will tackle challenges and develop sustainable solutions to address water issues such as quality, scarcity, reuse, distribution, management, and resilience.

This role provides rapid growth and development opportunities. You will collaborate with experienced Water Professionals, support and drive project development, interact with clients, and develop your technical and professional capabilities.

This role will lead tasks and projects from planning to design and construction of Water/Wastewater distribution/collection systems, pump/lift stations, and/or treatment plants.

• Perform complex engineering analyses and design calculations.
• Develop design and construction documents, including reports, technical memoranda, specifications, and cost estimates.
• Perform hydrologic and hydraulic modeling using a variety of software.
• Use ArcGIS and/or AutoCAD.
• Support construction administration of projects.
• Work collaboratively with multi‑discipline teams.
• Based on experience, serve as Project Manager (or Assistant Project Manager) on projects.
• Assist in the development of scopes of work and budgets.
• Travel (up to 20%) may be required for project site visits, client meetings, safety audits, general planning, or construction oversight.

• 6 or more years of experience in engineering and consulting, primarily related to the municipal water market.
• Bachelor's Degree in Civil, Environmental, Mechanical, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
• Licensed Professional Engineer in Florida or the ability to gain a license within 1 year of hiring.

The ideal candidate is a motivated self‑starter with strong technical writing, presentation, and communication skills. They can convey complex information effectively in person, virtually, and through written communications. They demonstrate strategic and analytical thinking when addressing technical challenges and are proficient in relevant design and modeling software, with the ability to continually expand their technical expertise and leverage software tools more effectively.

Experience with applications such as Bentley WaterGEMS, SewerGEMS, Info Water, and ArcGIS is preferred.

The candidate will be able to produce complex technical reports, provide guidance and direction to junior staff, and work independently with minimal oversight. They possess excellent time management and workload prioritization skills, enabling effective management of multiple responsibilities while meeting project deadlines. A strong commitment to safety and a safety‑first mindset are essential.

• 10 years of experience in engineering and consulting, primarily focused on the municipal water market, including at least 2 years within the local Orlando or Jacksonville markets.
• Project management experience.
• A Master of Science or Master of Engineering degree in a related field.
• Active participation in regional and/or national professional associations and possession of NASSCO PACP, MACP, or LACP certifications.
• Functional experience with Microsoft Office applications.

We provide nine paid holidays and 15 days PTO that accrue per year. The salary range for this position is $120,000 – $150,000 per year;

actual salaries vary based on experience, education, and other factors.
