Manufacturing Engineering Technician

CACI is seeking an Engineering Technician to support development and production of Optical Communication Terminals for space-based defense applications. This position is based in our Orlando, FL facility. Responsibilities include providing technical support to engineering and development teams throughout product development and production phases, collaborating with engineers to develop and refine reworks and troubleshooting guides, assisting engineers and manufacturing engineers with work instruction redlines and ECR/ECO process, supporting test engineers in developing improvements of test procedures, diagnosing and resolving complex issues in EO systems down to the component level, identifying root causes of performance issues and implementing effective solutions, supporting with fixture design and implementation, and documenting test failures in the failure reporting system and providing detailed analysis.

Documentation and process improvement tasks include documenting test procedures, results, and troubleshooting steps in a clear and concise manner, maintaining up-to-date records of equipment calibration and maintenance, generating detailed technical reports and analyses based on measurement data, and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives.

Training and mentorship duties involve demonstrating expert level knowledge on all assemblies and testing and assisting in the training of new technicians, serving as a technical resource for production and test teams, supporting production builds and manufacturing test procedures and work instructions as directed, performing optical or electrical testing and characterization as specified by work instructions, conducting tests to evaluate the performance of optical mechanical systems and sub-assemblies, and supporting assembly, testing, debugging, and rework of products during pre-delivery integration, acceptance test, and delivery phases of the product life cycle.

Qualifications include an associate's or bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering Technology, Photonics, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering or a related field, US citizenship due to nature of the work and contract requirement, minimum of 5 years hands-on experience as an electronics technician or engineering technician, proven experience with the use, maintenance, and troubleshooting of optical and electro-optical test stations/equipment, experience with CAD Software (Solid Works), and experience supporting engineering teams in product development or manufacturing environments.

Skills include knowledge of process control, cleanroom operation protocol, and process control for complex opto-mechanical and electro-optical assembly, proven technical acumen in the manufacture, test and integration of complex product technologies and systems, DoD or Space, ability to read, write, and comprehend detailed written and verbal instructions, assembly instructions, test procedures, schematics, and other engineering documentation, excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, ability to work independently and as part of a team, strong communication skills, both written and verbal, ability to lift and carry 25-45 lbs.,

and knowledge of MIL/IPC workmanship and performance standards related to electronic assemblies IPC-610, IPC-620, MIL-STD-810, MIL-STD-883, NASA Spec.
