We energize society by supporting our customers to make the transition to a more sustainable world, based on innovative technologies and our ability to turn ideas into reality. With nearly 100,000 employees around the world, we shape the energy systems of today and tomorrow.
As a Product Definition Standards Engineer within our Engineering Standards Team, you will serve as a key authority for product definition standards, methods, and processes across Siemens Energy's global Large Gas Turbine Engineering organization. Working closely with design engineers, manufacturing, quality, procurement, and digitalization teams, you will help ensure that product definitions are created consistently, efficiently, and in accordance with industry best practices.
Your day involves consulting design engineers and product definers on complex GD&T applications, reviewing evolving ISO and ASME standards, developing internal engineering guidelines and work instructions, or coaching engineering teams on model-based definition (MBD) and product manufacturing information (PMI). You will act as a trusted advisor, helping teams translate design intent into manufacturable, inspectable, and high-quality products while supporting continuous improvement of engineering methods, processes, and tools.
HowYou’ll Make an Impact
- Drive the development, maintenance, and deployment of engineering standards, methods, and best practices related to product definition, GD&T, technical drawings, MBD, and PMI.
- Partner with design, manufacturing, quality, and supply chain organizations to ensure engineering requirements support efficient manufacturing, inspection, and lifecycle management.
- Evaluate emerging and revised industry standards (e.g., ASME, ISO, DIN) and translate relevant requirements into Siemens Energy engineering guidelines and work instructions.
- Act as a subject matter expert and trusted consultant for engineers facing complex challenges related to tolerancing, product definition, inspection requirements, and design documentation.
- Champion end-to-end adoption of model-based product definition and digital engineering practices across the engineering organization.
- Develop and deliver training, coaching, and knowledge-sharing programs that strengthen engineering capabilities and ensure consistent application of standards worldwide.
- A university degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
- 8–10 years’ engineering product definition, GD&T, drafting standards, model-based definition, manufacturing engineering, quality engineering, or related fields.
- Deep knowledge of ISO product definition standards, GD&T principles, engineering drawings, PMI, and model-based definition methodologies.
- Experience applying design requirements to manufacturing and inspection processes, including dimensional validation, CTQ characteristics, metrology, and quality measurement methods.
- Practical understanding of engineering change management, configuration control, and collaboration between engineering, manufacturing, procurement, and quality organizations.
- Strong communication, coaching, and influencing skills, with the ability to translate technical expertise into clear standards, work instructions, training materials, and practical guidance for engineering teams.
- More years of experience can be considered at a higher level.
- Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the US without the need for current or future employer sponsored work authorization.
Due to applicable export control laws and regulations, candidates must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (i.e., current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
