Job Description & How to Apply Below

Senior Reliability Engineer

Develops, coordinates and conducts technical reliability studies and evaluations of engineering design concepts and design of experiments constructs. Recommends design or test methods and statistical process control procedures for achieving required levels of product reliability. Compiles and analyzes performance reports and process control statistics; investigates and analyzes relevant variables potentially affecting product and processes. Ensures that corrective measures meet acceptable reliability standards.

Analyzes preliminary plans and develops reliability engineering programs to achieve company, customer and governmental agency reliability objectives. May develop mathematical models to identify units, batches or processes posing excessive failure risks. As necessary, proposes changes in design or formulation to improve system and/or process reliability. May determine units and/or batches requiring environmental testing, and specifies minimum number of samples to obtain statistically valid data.

What You Will Be Doing As the Senior Reliability Engineer you will be responsible for leading Failure Modes, Effects, and Criticality Analyses (FMECA) on parts and sub assemblies, and for creating test plans that use accelerated aging models to prove reliability and lifecycle durability. You will work hand in hand with design engineers, material scientists, test labs, and program managers to surface risks early, quantify them accurately, and drive corrective actions.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Develop and maintain component level FMECA worksheets that comply with MIL STD 1629A (or equivalent) and internal reliability standards.
  • Identify failure modes, root causes, and their effects on overall system performance.
  • Assign criticality rankings, document mitigation strategies, and track them through each development phase.
  • Update FMECA results throughout the product lifecycle and capture lessons learned for future projects.
  • Define accelerated life test objectives, select appropriate acceleration models (Arrhenius, Coffin Manson, etc.), and calculate acceleration factors.
  • Draft, review, and execute accelerated aging and environmental test programs in partnership with internal and external laboratories.
  • Analyze test data, generate reliability growth curves, and report findings to cross functional stakeholders.
  • Recommend design or material changes to improve reliability and reduce lifecycle cost.
  • Mentor junior reliability engineers and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the reliability organization.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related technical field
  • 3–5 years of hands on reliability engineering experience, with demonstrated expertise in component level FMECA and accelerated aging/thermal cycling tests.
  • Strong root cause analysis, risk assessment, and data interpretation capabilities; comfortable working with large data sets and generating actionable insights.
  • Proficiency with reliability analysis standards (such as MIL STD 1629A, IEC 60812, etc.).
  • Strong knowledge of failure physics, degradation mechanisms, and material behavior under stress.
  • Ability to develop and interpret test plans using ASTM, IEC, or MIL test methods.
  • Ability to manage multiple concurrent analyses and test programs, meet deadlines, and maintain documentation control.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, technical writing experience, and an ability to perform oral presentations in front of large groups.
  • Final Secret clearance required to start.

Desired

Skills:

  • Familiar with Model-Based Engineering tools (i.e. Cameo)
  • Experience using reliability software (e.g., Relia Soft, Weibull++, ANSYS Reliability) and statistical tools (Minitab, R, Python)
  • Practical hands on experience with hardware test and troubleshooting.
  • Analytical thinker with a demonstrated ability of solving complex problems which require ingenuity and innovation.
  • Ability to manage subcontractors in the Reliability field of expertise.
