Operations Management
Are you an engineering leader who's ready to build and scale a high-performing team — not just manage one?
We're running a confidential search for a Director of Engineering to lead the engineering and drafting function for a precast concrete manufacturer that's part of a multi-billion-dollar, privately owned company based in the U.S. The role is based about 40 miles north of Orlando, FL, and supports engineering operations across multiple plants throughout the Southeast. Specific company details are shared directly with qualified candidates.
Whatmakes this role worth a conversation:
This isn't just an engineering seat — it's a leadership mandate. You'll build the workflows, KPIs, and culture that let a growing engineering team punch above its weight, while staying hands-on with structural design and technical problem-solving.
What you'll own:- Lead and scale an integrated engineering and drafting team, aligning people, process, and workflow to hit throughput, quality, and service targets
- Recruit, coach, and develop a strong bench of technical talent, with training and performance management tied to measurable outcomes
- Partner directly with Regional Sales and Operations VPs to keep engineering capacity aligned with business needs
- Own structural design and review for precast products, pipe, and fittings — keeping designs current with evolving codes and standards
- Manage budgets, schedules, and priorities across a multi-plant portfolio
- Be the technical go-to for sales teams, plant personnel, contractors, consulting engineers, and municipalities
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline
- 10+ years of progressive engineering experience, including 3+ years in a management role
- A track record of building workflows, KPIs, and governance systems that actually move the needle on turnaround time, quality, and cross-functional alignment
- Solid understanding of precast structural design, codes, and constructability
- Comfort working in QPS, ERP, CRM, CAD, Power BI, or similar systems
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, and a bias for action
- Competitive six-figure salary (targeting 160, based on experience)
- A genuine build-and-scale mandate, with real room to grow
- Full benefits: health, dental, vision, and a 401(k) match
- Paid vacation and holidays
- Minimal travel — less than 10%
