About the RoleThe role involves performing engineering calculations, designing systems, and exercising judgment in accordance with established policies, standards, and codes with minimal supervision. The individual will be responsible for independent decision-making on engineering tasks and may supervise subordinate personnel.
Responsibilities- Perform engineering calculations and layout and design systems.
- Apply practical knowledge and experience to resolve project-related problems.
- Supervise subordinate personnel or assist other engineers/designers.
- Meet with the Project Engineer and Project Manager to discuss design scope, schedule, budget, and issues.
- Prepare design budgets and schedules with the Project Manager and Project Engineer.
- Estimate discipline man-hours required for project design requirements.
- Provide leadership and assign design job functions to designated designers.
- Implement system types as selected by the Project Engineer.
- Review engineering designs for function, clearances, coordination, and final design selection.
- Perform quality assurance on projects in coordination with the technical manager or project engineer.
- Mentor and motivate Engineering designers I, II, and III.
- Meet fast-paced deadlines while maintaining quality design.
- Additional duties as required.
- A Bachelor of Science degree in Fire Protection or Mechanical Engineering.
- Minimum 6 years of work experience.
- Must be Professionally licensed in the United States.
- Critical Thinking.
- Proficient in REVIT.
- Proficient in Engineering Modeling tools.
- Researching and writing reports/opinions.
- Excellent written and oral communication.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office tools.
- Equipment selection.
- Excellent judgment and decision making.
- Excellent management of personnel resources – Motivating, developing, and directing team members.
- Good leadership skills to educate clients on design and project requirements.
