Job Summary

OPAV is seeking an experienced, hands-on Production Manager to lead and execute high-quality live event productions. This role serves as the primary client point of contact once a project transitions from sales to production and is responsible for planning, communication, and on-site execution. The Production Manager partners closely with Account Managers, applies strong technical knowledge, and actively works alongside crews in the field to ensure events are delivered on time, on budget, and to OPAV standards.

This is a hands-on role that requires active participation during setup, show execution, and teardown at live events.

Key Responsibilities

Collaborate with Account Managers during pre-production to review scope, equipment needs, and technical requirements.

Provide technical guidance on equipment specifications during planning and confirmation stages.

Act as the primary client contact for assigned events, ensuring expectations are clearly communicated and met.

Lead and work alongside on-site crews during setup, execution, and strike while maintaining safety and quality standards.

Demonstrate strong leadership and supervisory skills by effectively directing staff, maintaining team morale, addressing issues professionally, and fostering a positive, accountable, and team-oriented work environment while actively working alongside crew members during events.

Oversee logistics including cross-rentals, labor coordination, and equipment movement.

Monitor project timelines and costs to support budget adherence.

Communicate project status and client needs to Account Managers and Production leadership.

Complete post-show reports and provide feedback for continuous improvement.

Additional Responsibilities

Represent OPAV professionally with clients, vendors, and partners.

Contribute to process improvements and cross-department collaboration.

Adapt to changing priorities and perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a related field or 3-5 years of experience in live event production or AV.

Minimum of 1 year of leadership experience (crew lead, show lead, or similar).

Strong knowledge of audiovisual systems, staging, lighting, and event logistics.

Proficiency with Flex Rental Solutions, Vectorworks, Microsoft Office, and Google Workspace.

Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.

Authorized to work in the United States.

Work Environment

This position operates in both office and field environments, including warehouses, hotels, convention centers, corporate venues, and outdoor event spaces. The Production Manager is expected to be present on-site for events and actively participate in event setup, execution, and teardown. Work environments may include exposure to noise, production equipment, cables, and varying weather conditions.

Physical & Travel Requirements

Ability to stand and work on your feet for extended periods.

Ability to climb ladders and work at heights when required.

Ability to lift, carry, and move 50+ lbs repeatedly.

Local and occasional overnight travel required based on event schedules.

Flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.

Schedule

Monday - Friday, 9:00 AM - 6:00 PM
Evenings, weekends, and after-hours as required by event schedules.
