Dance One is a leading live event organization producing premier dance competitions and conventions across the United States. Our productions combine high-level technical execution with unforgettable experiences for dancers, families, and studios nationwide.
We are seeking a highly organized, hands-on Production Manager to oversee the technical execution and touring operations of our live events.
✈️ Travel & Work Expectations- Flying weekly for 3–6 months per year (touring season)
- Required travel for our Summer Event Series
- When not traveling, you may be required to work at our warehouse/shop on in-house production projects
This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, touring environment and enjoys both leadership and hands-on technical work.
🎬 Key Responsibilities Pre-Production & Planning- Coordinate and book local labor for each show
- Communicate with truck drivers and venue security
- Ensure all crew members reporting to you understand responsibilities and call times
- Create operational show schedules based on event timelines
- Serve as the main point of contact for technicians while on tour
- Escalate operational issues appropriately
This is a hands-on leadership role.
You will oversee technical departments and actively participate in:
- Loading and unloading trucks
- Bolting truss systems
- Operating material lifts
- Hanging lighting and audio equipment
- Building stage decks
- Stacking and unstacking road cases
- Ensuring the full set is built safely, fully functional, and on schedule
Safety, efficiency, and professionalism are critical.
Show Operations & DocumentationYou are responsible for completing and submitting weekly production paperwork, including:
- Post-show reports
- Crew and local labor timesheets
- Venue photos and video documentation
- Rental and labor invoices
- Accident and incident reports
- Ensure all consumables are properly stocked
- Confirm equipment is in good working condition
- Oversee minor repairs on the road
- Coordinate return of damaged equipment to warehouse when necessary
- Experience in live event production or touring environments
- Strong leadership and communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple moving parts under tight timelines
- Comfort working physically in technical build environments
- Strong organizational and documentation skills
- Ability to problem-solve independently on the road
- Be part of a nationally recognized touring production team
- Lead technical execution for large-scale live events
