Counter Sales role at Heritage Family of Companies is a key customer touchpoint responsible for accurate order entry and smooth customer interactions. The position requires strong multitasking skills, including processing orders, maintaining inventory accuracy, and coordinating logistics to support delivery timelines. The role emphasizes professionalism, honesty, and respect to deliver an exceptional customer experience and uphold the company’s reputation for quality and reliability.
Responsibilities- Provide exceptional customer service via phone, email, and in-person consultations, maintaining a courteous and professional demeanor.
- Accurately process and manage customer transactions at the sales counter using the company system to ensure efficient order fulfillment.
- Deliver expert product recommendations and pricing information, tailoring solutions to meet customer needs and maximize sales potential.
- Create detailed sales orders and quotes, using customer measurements to estimate material needs and project costs with accuracy.
- Coordinate and schedule truck deliveries with precision to ensure timely logistics and customer satisfaction.
- Contribute to inventory management by participating in cycle counts, order picking, staging, replenishment, and shipping/receiving activities.
- Collaborate with management and team members to communicate customer needs and special order material requests.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment, promoting operational efficiency and safety.
- Work with warehouse and sales teams to ensure efficient operations and exceptional customer service.
- Maintain clear communication with management and colleagues, aligning duties with company policies and objectives.
- Other duties as assigned.
Reports directly to the Branch Manager. This role has no direct reports.
TravelTravel is not required; all duties are performed on-site at the designated sales counter location.
Physical RequirementsOperates in office and warehouse environments. Requires extended standing and walking, frequent use of hands for computer tasks, and lifting up to 75 lbs regularly (50 lbs repetitively). Clear verbal communication and the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced setting. Reasonable accommodations may be provided under the ADA to enable performance of essential functions.
Working ConditionsOn-site role at the sales location with direct customer and team interaction. Fast-paced, deadline-driven environment with a mix of sales counter duties and warehouse tasks. May involve overtime during peak seasons. Monday through Friday schedule in this role; overtime as needed.
Minimum Qualifications- Experience in customer service or sales; ability to manage customer relationships with a focus on satisfaction and loyalty.
- Proficiency in basic computer operations and internet navigation; familiarity with point-of-sale systems and order entry procedures.
- Clear, courteous communication in person, by phone, and via email.
- Problem-solving skills and resourcefulness in responding to inquiries and issues.
- Ability to lift up to 75 lbs regularly, 50 lbs repetitively; ability to work in varied conditions including warehouses and outdoor environments.
- Honest, respectful demeanor toward customers and colleagues.
- Willingness to work overtime during peak seasons.
- Ability to pass a pre-employment drug test.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish.
- Experience with irrigation or landscaping products.
- Forklift operation experience and current forklift certification.
- Ability to drive sales through excellent customer service and product knowledge.
- Understanding of landscaping materials, tools, and trends; ability to make informed recommendations.
- Familiarity with inventory processes including cycle counts and stock replenishment to optimize stock levels.
- Advanced skills in POS systems and common software applications for accurate data entry.
- Adaptability to changing job requirements and ability to manage multiple tasks in a high-paced environment.
- Minimum Education:

2 years in a relevant role.
- Forklift Operator Certification (preferred).
- CPR and First Aid Certification (preferred).
