Position SummaryThe Vice President of Finance serves as a key member of the senior leadership team and is responsible for the overall financial management, planning, and fiscal stewardship for a leading production home builder in the greater Orlando area. This executive is accountable for all financial and accounting functions, strategic planning, risk management, capital management, and the oversight of the finance department. The VP of Finance will play a pivotal role in driving performance, profitability, and long-term growth of the company.
Key Responsibilities- Provide strategic financial leadership, partnering with the CEO and executive team to drive the company’s long-term business objectives.
- Direct all aspects of accounting, budgeting, financial reporting, forecasting, cost analysis, and capital management in alignment with GAAP and industry best practices.
- Develop and implement financial policies, procedures, and internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Lead the annual budgeting process, monthly forecasting, and periodic variance analysis; deliver timely and accurate financial analysis and reporting for management and stakeholders.
- Oversee the company’s cash flow, working capital, and financial risk management to optimize liquidity and support operations and growth initiatives.
- Analyze land acquisition opportunities, project pro formas, and ROI for new developments in collaboration with land, construction, and sales teams.
- Support the structuring and negotiation of project financing, bonding, credit facilities, and investor relations.
- Coordinate internal and external audits, tax planning, filing, and correspondence with auditors, banks, and regulatory bodies.
- Mentor, develop, and manage a high-performing finance and accounting team; foster a culture of continuous improvement and collaboration.
- Support pricing strategies, cost control initiatives, and expense management to maintain gross margin targets.
- Stay abreast of industry trends, local market conditions, and changes in regulations affecting residential construction and real estate finance.
- Represent the company with banking partners, investors, and key external stakeholders.
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
- CPA, CMA, or equivalent financial designation strongly preferred.
- 10+ years of progressive experience in financial leadership roles, with at least 5 years in residential homebuilding, real estate development, or construction industry.
- Demonstrated expertise in financial forecasting, budgeting, modeling, and cash management within a production homebuilding environment.
- Strong knowledge of construction cost accounting, project financing, and land development economics.
- Exceptional analytical, strategic thinking, and problem-solving skills.
- Proven experience leading and developing high-performing teams.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills.
- Results-driven, adaptable, and comfortable with a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.
- Proficiency in ERP/accounting systems (e.g., JD Edwards, Sage, Builder
MT) and advanced Excel skills.
