Tax Manager – Tax Services Group

Withum’s Tax Services Group is composed of a team of tax specialists dedicated to meeting tax reporting obligations accurately and timely while minimizing or deferring tax payments. The team’s expertise spans international, U.S. federal, state, and local regulations. Additional services include Business, Individual, State & Local tax, R&D Tax Credit, and International and Private Client services.

As a Tax Manager based in one of the following offices—Boca Raton, FL;
Columbia, MD;
New York City, NY;
Orlando, FL;
Tysons Corner, VA—you will lead all aspects of tax engagements, supervise and mentor staff, and build and maintain strong client relationships.

• Review individual, trust, partnership, and corporate tax returns prepared by staff and/or senior associates for accuracy.
• Research and draft memoranda on complex tax matters.
• Identify and implement tax planning opportunities.
• Handle and resolve tax controversies.
• Oversee complete tax research projects for a variety of clients and industries.
• Manage multiple engagements concurrently with various teams to efficiently meet client deadlines.
• Conduct constructive discussions with team members on their evaluations and provide counsel accordingly.
• Serve in professional development programs as an instructor or discussion leader.
• Travel as needed.

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting.
• CPA license, JD, or Master of Science in Taxation (required).
• At least 5 years of experience in the tax department of a public accounting firm, with experience leading multiple engagements and supervising staff.
• Excellent analytical and technical tax skills.
• Exceptional client service and communication skills with a demonstrated ability to develop and maintain outstanding client relationships.
• Ability to manage multiple engagements and competing projects in a rapidly growing, fast‑paced, interactive, results‑based team environment.
• Strong leadership, training, and mentoring skills, coupled with excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills to represent the firm well to client management.
• Strong analytical, organizational, project management skills, and meticulous attention to detail.
• Ability to travel as needed.

The compensation for this position ranges from $120,000 to $180,000 in Maryland and New York City. In addition to the base salary, Withum offers a competitive benefits package and a bonus program (for eligible roles) based on individual and firm performance. Final offer amounts are determined by the specific role, hiring location, and the candidate’s skills, experience, and qualifications.
