Fire Prevention Inspector I​/II​/III

Salary Range: $25.21 – $32.15

Performs specialized field and office work in fire prevention with responsibility for administration and enforcement of fire safety codes, laws, and ordinances and includes inspection of commercial buildings to ensure compliance. Initiative and judgment must be exercised to recognize fire hazards and acquire code compliance.

Field work exposes employee to varying weather conditions, chemicals, noxious fumes, insects, heights, and confined areas. Work is performed under general supervision, according to established guidelines, and is reviewed through daily conferences.

High School Diploma/G.E.D. Certificate with varying years of experience in fire inspection, fire prevention or related field. Must possess and maintain State of Florida Fire Safety Inspector Certification from the Division of State Fire Marshal, a valid Florida Driver's License, and pass a background check including a polygraph.

• Fire Prevention Inspector I: Salary $25.21–$32.15. 6 months to 1 year experience.
• Fire Prevention Inspector II: Salary $26.63–$33.95. 2 to 3 years experience.
• Fire Prevention Inspector III: Salary $28.28–$36.06. 4 or more years experience.

• Two (2) years of direct experience for an associate degree;
• Four (4) years of direct experience for a bachelor's degree;

• Nine (9) years of direct experience for a doctoral degree.
