Hiring Salary: $1,471.70 to $1,608.12 Biweekly

Our Organization and Mission

The Florida Division of Alcoholic Beverages and Tobacco licenses the manufacture, distribution, sale, and service of alcoholic beverage and tobacco products in Florida; collects and audits taxes and fees; and enforces laws and regulations governing the industries.

The Work You Will Do

As an inspector for the Division’s Bureau of Enforcement, you will educate licensees on minor compliance issues and file administrative cases against those committing serious violations. You will report suspicious activities to sworn personnel and support criminal investigations. A vehicle, uniforms, and necessary equipment will be provided.

Your Specific Responsibilities
  • Investigate violations of Florida Statutes Chapters 210, 561-565, and 567-569.
  • Conduct frequent inspections of licensed business locations.
  • Assess compliance with tobacco and alcoholic beverage laws and report findings to supervisors.
  • Assist the Bureau of Licensing with application site inspections.
  • Prepare administrative cases and refer criminal violations to sworn personnel.
  • Examine license records, cigarette tax stamps, and invoices for compliance.
  • Collect evidence and testify in judicial and administrative proceedings.
  • Assist in preparing prosecution, license discipline, and forfeiture reports.
  • Perform functions related to the administration of Florida’s tobacco and alcoholic beverage laws and assist the public and other officials.
  • Attend training sessions on relevant laws, counterfeit detection, report writing, and communication skills.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Deductive reasoning and effective communication.
  • Independent decision‑making and evidence collection.
  • Strict confidentiality and accurate investigative reporting.
  • Presentation of detailed verbal reports.
  • Planning, organizing, and coordinating work assignments.
  • Information analysis and validity assessment.
  • Conducting fact‑finding interviews and taking statements.
  • Establishing effective working relationships.
  • Valid State of Florida driver’s license with a good driving record.
  • Ability to work independently, complete inspections each workday, and lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to stand, kneel, and work on uneven surfaces for extended periods.
  • Residency within 70 miles of the Orlando District Office at the time of hire.
  • Commitment to participate in the Field Work Program.
  • Completion of internal training program and law enforcement Level II background screening.
Preferred
  • Ability to operate a portable electronic tablet or computer.
  • Experience in regulatory compliance, inspections, or quality assurance.
