The Department of Children and Families is seeking a Child Protective Investigator. This position offers a competitive salary of $50,000.08 annually and is open to both OPS and Career Service employees. The posting will close on July 19, 2026.

This role is critical in ensuring the safety of children in crisis. You will conduct investigations of abuse, neglect, abandonment, and special conditions for children. Your responsibilities include collecting information through observation and interviews, assessing danger threats, arranging emergency placements, notifying relevant authorities, and providing families with service linkages.

Qualifications include a high school diploma or GED equivalent and four years of law enforcement experience or active military service, or an associate degree or 60+ credit hours from an accredited college or university and two years of professional work experience. A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university is also an option. Additional requirements include a valid driver's license, operational private vehicle, and the ability to attend an 8-12 week mandatory training course.

This position requires night, weekend, and holiday work, and incumbents may be exposed to hazardous conditions in the field. The role also involves physical agility tasks such as ambulating in varied terrains, assisting with evacuations, and lifting up to 30 pounds.
