The Fiscal and Operational Support (FOS) Division is seeking a qualified individual to fill the position of Permit Analyst or Senior Permit Analyst
. This position may be filled with either title based on qualifications and experience.
The Permit Analyst position performs clerical review of applications and issues permits consistent with departmental regulations. This is a customer service position with significant responsibility that requires sound judgement and attention to detail. Work is performed with considerable independence under the guidance of the Senior Permit Analyst and the Building Coordinator or Administration.
The Senior Permit Analyst is responsible for reviewing applications, issuing permits, providing customer service, responding to customer inquiries and complaints as well as training and providing guidance to Permit Analyst staff.
Job DescriptionThis position may be required to assist with emergency support functions in the event of a declared emergency and/or any other emergency duties as assigned.
Representative Duties/Assignments- Serves as a team lead in performing complex clerical work to ensure consistent and proper implementation of departmental policies and code requirements as it relates to the processing of permits.
- Provides technical and general support regarding complex permitting requirements and processes to the permitting, plans review and inspection teams to include calculation and audit of permitting fees.
- Responds and assists in the resolution of development-related inquiries and complaints.
- Assists with administrative tasks such as answering phones, communicating by email, chat, and/or video conferencing.
- Coordinates work efforts with other sections, county departments and public agencies.
- Communicates effectively (both verbally and in writing) with the general public while discussing and explaining departmental policies.
- Receives and responds to customer inquiries, requests for assistance and complaints necessary and or assigned by higher-level supervisory or management staff.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Graduation from high school or equivalent and two years of technical/clerical experience including customer service; or an equivalent combination of relevant education or experience may be substituted on a year for year basis.
Must have demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with the general public while discussing, explaining and interpreting departmental policies.
Senior Permit AnalystGraduation from high school or equivalent and three (3) years of technical/clerical experience involving the reading and writing of legal descriptions, or reviewing construction documents or processing permit applications, to include one (1) year of permit analyst experience, or an equivalent combination of relevant education or experience may be substituted on a year for year basis.
Permit Technician Certification from the International Code Council
PreferencesWorking knowledge of Microsoft applications.
