Audiologist Lead - Cochlear Implant

Nemours is seeking a Lead Cochlear Implant Audiologist to lead a highly visible Cochlear Implant program at Nemours Children's Health in Orlando, Florida.

• Seeking a CI dedicated audiologist to lead a highly visible Cochlear Implant program in collaboration with an integrative team and institutional resources.
• Responsibility will involve audiological management, care coordination, professional education, scholarship and outreach/growth initiatives for our Cochlear Implant Program. This individual is expected to work closely with our Medical Director of Audiology, Speech AVT lead, Device and Implant Coordinator, and Audiology Program manager to facilitate continued growth of the Cochlear Implant program.

• Comprehensive audiometric pediatric services, including hearing evaluations, patient examination, intervention, documentation, patient/parent/caretaker education, communication and coordination of care with medical/clinical staff and outside agencies as appropriate with the guidelines designated by the department and Nemours Children's Hospital. Actively participates in departmental education activities to expand knowledge of patient populations and evidence-based practice.

• Serve as a subject matter expert and resource for families, staff, and outside educational institutions. Provide counseling, education, and resources to ensure that children with hearing and/or communication disorders can acquire optimal language skills and academic abilities regardless of the mode of communication. Stay current with federal and state early childhood intervention and special education laws with regards to hearing and speech.
• Facilitate outreach to educational and other non-traditional referral sources; this individual will partner with the Educational Specialist and Hospital School Program serving as a subject matter expert and support to the liaison role between Nemours and educational institutions throughout the Central Florida area ensuring the educational needs of our patients are understood
• Facilitate and support educational experiences for our patients (i.e. Cochlear Implant Summer Camp), our families (family events) and healthcare/educational professionals (annual CEU providing conference) at Nemours; events occurring in collaboration with integrative teams for support and resources.
• Promote Nemours Cochlear Implant teams' presence at professional conferences and/or meetings with submission of abstract(s) and presentation(s) of scholarly works annually.
• Collaborate with Nemours Ear Hearing and Communication Center and the Division's Auditory Neuroscientist in research initiatives of health services, translational and/or clinical outcomes nature.
• Collaborate with Nemours social media team and marketing teams in developing a visible presence for Nemours Children's Health Florida hearing health services, working with other division leads to highlight our programs, including Implantable devices, Electrodiagnostics, Hearing amplification and Vestibular testing.
• Work closely with the Device and Implant Coordinator to ensure care coordination and reduced loss to follow up for potential cochlear implant candidates, especially those with complex care needs and participating in destination care services, i.e. international patients.
• Participate in CI team related collaborative work, including facilitating monthly Cochlear Implant meetings, collaborating with the CI team to develop and maintain protocols that exemplify best practice standards, and facilitating meetings with CI manufacturers for education and training.
• Clinical responsibilities include administering age-appropriate audiological pediatric evaluations including middle ear analysis, otoacoustic emissions, auditory brainstem response testing, VRA, CPA and traditional behavioral threshold evaluations in accordance with established protocols with appropriate counseling regarding evaluation results and recommendations for treatment, intervention, follow-up, and referral.
