Position Summary

The Neuropsychologist is responsible for provision of appropriate neuropsychological services to the patients of Orlando Health in an independent manner.

Responsibilities

Essential Functions:

  • Services are rendered under the direct consultation request and order of a physician from within the organization or from the community.
  • Neuropsychological services may include but are not limited to: evaluation, diagnosis, ordering of appropriate services, education, and provision of appropriate psychotherapeutic intervention as pertaining to a patient’s medical condition, and Cognitive Rehabilitation and/or adjustment to disability counseling as required.

Specific functions include, but are not limited to:

  • Response to appropriate physician-directed consultation
  • Patient assessment and intervention
  • Promulgation of appropriate assessment-generated neuropsychological evaluation reports with specific direction toward diagnosis or assistance with differential diagnoses
  • Descriptive assessment of cognitive‑emotional, psychological, and behavioral strengths and weaknesses
  • Appropriate development of intervention strategies which may include individual and/or family education, Cognitive Rehabilitation and psychotherapeutic interventions
  • Evaluation and acceptance of referrals from community sources—including physician, private, family, or individual, and attorney referrals—for assessment in the arenas of cognitive, psychological, or behavioral impairments and/or in the establishment of competency or evaluation for disability or personal injury
  • Demonstration of ability to appropriately and thoroughly evaluate, interpret neuropsychological and psychological results, treat and educate patients and families according to the American Psychological Association, State of Florida Board of Psychology, Orlando Health Standards of Practice, Ethical Codes, and appropriate policies and procedures
  • Participation in continuing education requirements to maintain State of Florida psychological licensure (40 credit hours per two‑year cycle)
  • Adherence to the American Psychological Association Ethical Principles of Psychologists and Code of Conduct and National Academy of Neuropsychology
  • Maintenance of reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies, ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards
  • Compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures

Other Related Functions

  • Maintains an appropriate environment requisite to the performance of neuropsychological duties including appropriate cleanliness, lighting, and environmental temperature regulation
  • Attention to record confidentiality to the highest of standards in accordance with the American Psychological Association
  • Demonstration of an open, honest, caring, and committed communication style with colleagues, visitors, patients, and families
  • Practice of efficient use and selection of appropriate supplies and equipment
  • Performance of all other duties as appropriate and assigned by the administrative liaison
  • Demonstrate knowledge and skills appropriate to the State of Florida psychological licensure, Division 40 of the American Psychological Association which is necessary to provide care appropriate to the age and developmental level of patients served
  • Demonstrate knowledge and expertise requisite to the level of degree and requirements of the position as stated
Qualifications

Licensure/Certification

Licensed psychologist in the State of Florida by the Florida Department of Health – renewed bi‑annually. Must meet the guidelines specified in Division 40, APA for practice in neuropsychology of the American Board of Professional Psychology.

Experience

Requirements for licensure in psychology include Ph.D. or Psy.

D., degree in psychology, clinical internship and post‑doctoral fellowship.

Education/Training

Doctoral Degree in Clinical Psychology with training and education in neuropsychology.
