Medical Physicist, Senior — Therapy (Hybrid)

- Hourly Pay Range: $88.30 – $164.24
Overview
Join Advent Health Orlando, a leading tertiary and teaching medical center and central hub for cancer care, in delivering exceptional radiation oncology services. This position involves combining clinical expertise, program development, and supervisory responsibilities in a medically forward, patient-focused environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver medical physics services in radiation oncology ensuring adherence to state, federal, and national standards.
- Oversee radiation safety protocols, including regulatory compliance, staff training, and coordination of radioactive sources (ordering, handling, waste disposal).
- Support development and implementation of new technologies, including treatment planning systems and information management solutions.
- Conduct weekly chart reviews, dosimetry calculations for external beam, HDR, brachytherapy, and radiopharmaceutical therapies.
- Perform quality assurance, commissioning, acceptance testing, and regular performance evaluations (weekly to annual) of radiation therapy systems (e.g., linear accelerators, simulators, HDR units).
- Provide consultation on radiation safety to physicians, staff, patients, and families.
- Support clinical trials and research initiatives as part of multidisciplinary teams.
- Oversee and mentor medical physicist assistants, residents, and dosimetrists, ensuring compliance with all regulatory and professional standards.
Qualifications
Education & Experience (Required):
- Master’s degree in Physics, Engineering, or a closely related field
- At least three years of clinical radiation therapy physics experience (if not arising from a CAMPEP-accredited residency)
Licensure & Certification (Required):
- Medical Physicist in Training (MPT) or American Board of Radiology (A ) certification
Preferred Qualifications:
- Completion of a CAMPEP-accredited residency program or Doctorate in Medical Physics
- Therapeutic Medical Physics Certification (TMP-C), American Board of Medical Physics (ABMP), or A in Therapeutic Radiological Physics
- Experience with brachytherapy
