Position: Sr. Certified Medical Assistant - Jewett Orthopedic Institute, Spring Lake
Position Summary One of the region's largest orthopedic and sports medicine providers, Orlando Health Jewett Orthopedic Institute's world-class team of orthopedic surgeons and sports medicine physicians specialize in conditions and injuries of the spine, hand, upper extremities, foot, ankle and lower extremities, as well as joint replacement, concussions, interventional pain management, bone health and orthopedic trauma. to learn more about Orlando Health Jewett Orthopedic Institute Position Summary The Sr. Certified Medical Assistant performs patient care under the direction and supervision of the physician or advanced practice provider (APP) in an ambulatory setting. Acts as a leader to help drive quality care and a mentor for professional practice. Responsibilities Accountable to the Assistant Nurse Manager, Nursing Operations Manager, or Practice Manager for operational issues.

Embraces and participates in quality initiatives, goal attainment, and clinical outcome process improvement activities. Supports and demonstrates effective and professional communication with patients and family members Works collaboratively with the administrative and operations staff. Gathers patient data through interview and observation. Assists patients and families with preparation for examination. Assists the physician during examination and procedures. Demonstrates competency in specific tasks and skills as defined by the practice.

Provides routine treatments and administers approved medication types as ordered by the provider. Enter medication, laboratory and diagnostic imaging orders into the electronic medical system under direction of a provider. Documents patient data, treatments, procedures, and patient education according to Orlando Health and department specific policies. Assists the physician by acting as a liaison on behalf of the patient to schedule, provide patient with scheduling information to obtain specialty testing, and/or specialty physician consultation.

Processes incoming and outgoing calls in an independent and professional manner using sound clinical judgment. Helps develop and coordinate the orientation process in the assigned practice for Medical Assistants. Acts as preceptor and/or oversees assigned preceptor(s) in collaboration with nursing/clinical leadership and corporate Learning Consultant. Qualifications Education/Training High school graduate or equivalent. Successful completion of Medical Assistant training from an approved technical school (or 5 years of verifiable applicable work experience in patient care setting) required.

Licensure/Certification Maintains current American Heart Association BLS Healthcare Provider Certification - and
- Maintains current certification by one of the following agencies:
Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) by the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) ((Use the "Apply for this Job" box below).) Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) by American Medical Technologists (AMT) () Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) by National Health career Association (NHA) () National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA) by National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT) () Experience Minimum three (3) years as Certified Medical Assistant.

Education/Training High school graduate or equivalent. Successful completion of Medical Assistant training from an approved technical school (or 5 years of verifiable applicable work experience in patient care setting) required.
