Position Summary

Title: Speech Language Pathologist Department: Outpatient Rehab Services
Site: Orlando Health Bayfront Hospital
Location: St Petersburg FL (on site)
Schedule: Mon-Fri with weekend rotation (working alternating weekends required) and holiday rotation (working one major and one minor holiday required yearly)
The Speech Language Pathologist evaluates, diagnoses, and treats speech, language, cognitive-communication and swallowing disorders in patients of all ages with varying acuity levels. This SLP will primarily provide outpatient speech therapy services and support Modified Barium Swallow (MBS) studies in Radiology. The role will also be cross-trained to support Inpatient Rehabilitation (IPR) services as needed. Preferred candidates will have experience or interest in LSVT LOUD treatment for patients with Parkinson's disease.
- Evaluates patients, gathering data from the patient, physician, interdisciplinary team meetings if available, family and significant other persons and data sources.
- Develops treatment plans which integrate with the continuum of care and have specific goals and objectives. Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on the assigned caseload.
- Demonstrates the ability to assess data reflective of the patient’s status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient’s requirements relative to their age-specific needs, and to provide the care needed as delineated in the departmental policies and procedures.
- Demonstrates competency in the use, care and maintenance of profession specific equipment, observing safety precautions and providing verbal explanations of the equipment and its purpose.
- Re-evaluates and modifies treatment plan and goals when appropriate, and prepares written documentation as required by the department, and the care team.
- Recognizes and communicates when the patient has received optimal benefit from speech therapy.
- Ensures accurate billing.
- Adheres to State Practice Act and Standards of Practice.
- Maintains reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies, the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.
- Maintains compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures.
- Master’s degree in speech/language pathology from an approved program required.
- Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) required.
- Current Speech Language Pathologist license in the State of Florida required.
- Current BLS/Health Care Provider Certification required.
- Experience performing Modified Barium Swallow (MBS) studies preferred.
- Experience in outpatient and/or inpatient rehabilitation settings preferred.
- LSVT LOUD certification or experience treating patients with Parkinson's disease preferred.
