Position: Certified Medical Assistant-Orlando-Pool-Orlando Health Physician Associates

Position Summary

Orlando Health Physician Associates is one of the largest primary‑care provider groups in Central Florida, part of the Orlando Health Medical Group. Over 225 providers offer family medicine, internal medicine, pediatrics, obstetrics & gynecology, and podiatry across numerous convenient locations. The practice provides same‑day, next‑day, and virtual appointments and coordinates care throughout the integrated Orlando Health system.

Location & Schedule

21 West Columbia Street, Suite 201, Orlando, FL 32806. Monday‑Friday, 8 am‑5 pm. This is a part‑time float position between Behavioral Health and Internal Medicine.

Responsibilities
  • Accountable to the Assistant Nurse Manager, Nursing Operations Manager, or Practice Manager for operational issues.
  • Participates in quality initiatives, goal attainment, and clinical outcome process improvement activities.
  • Supports effective and professional communication with patients and family members.
  • Works collaboratively with administrative and operations staff.
  • Gathers patient data through interview and observation.
  • Assists patients and families with preparation for examination.
  • Assists the physician or APP during examination and procedures.
  • Demonstrates competency in tasks and skills defined by the practice.
  • Provides routine treatments and administers approved medication types.
  • Documents patient data, treatments, procedures, and education per Orlando Health policies.
  • Acts as a liaison for scheduling and providing information for specialty testing and/or physician consultation.
  • Processes incoming and outgoing calls independently and professionally.
  • Enters medication, laboratory, and diagnostic imaging orders into the electronic medical system.
  • Ensures compliance with Orlando Health and department‑specific policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Adheres to infection control standards and personal/patient safety practices.
  • Maintains punctual attendance in accordance with Orlando Health policies and federal, state, and local standards.
  • Maintains compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures.
Other Related Functions
  • Provides care and assesses data appropriate to the age‑specific needs of patients in the assigned department or unit.
  • Demonstrates awareness of medical/legal issues, patient rights, and compliance with regulatory and accrediting standards.
  • Practices efficient use of supplies.
  • Assists the business office with reception, scheduling, and discharge of patients.
Qualifications Education/Training
  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Successful completion of Medical Assistant training from an approved technical school or at least one year of verifiable work experience as a Medical Assistant in a patient‑care setting.
Licensure/Certification
  • Maintains current BLS Healthcare Provider Certification.
  • Maintains current certification or registration by one of the following agencies:
  • Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) – National Health Career Association (NHA)
  • Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) – American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA)
  • Clinical Medical Assistant Certification (CMAC) – American Medical Certification Association (AMCA)
  • National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA) – National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT)
  • Nationally Registered Certified Medical Assistant (NRCMA) or Nationally Registered Certified Advanced Medical Assistant (NRCAMA) – National Association for Health Professionals (NAHP)
  • Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) – American Medical Technologists (AMT), American Registry of Medical Assistants (ARMA), or American Allied Health (AAH)
  • Applicants with accepted certification or registration from another agency will be considered on a case‑by‑case basis.
