Position SummaryOrlando Health South Lake Hospital is a comprehensive medical and surgical acute care facility serving the residents of Lake County. Located in Clermont, FL, the hospital has a team of physicians, nurses, clinicians and medical professionals dedicated to delivering expert and compassionate care.

Department: Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR)
Schedule: Days (4x10s with on-call rotation)
Responsibilities- Reviews preference and verifies case cart completely prior to case.
- Maintain an orderly surgical field and pass instruments and supplies quickly and efficiently to the surgeon.
- Able to anticipate and prioritize the needs of the various steps associated with the procedure.
- Participate in sponge, needle and instruments counts as dictated by the procedure.
- Maintain the surgical specimen in a manner that identifies and preserves it for pathology evaluation.
- Assist in ordering and stocking of specialty supplies under the direction of management and departmental guidelines.
- Transport and deliver items, equipment, and medications (excluding controlled substances and IV chemotherapy) throughout the facility.
- May have limited access to areas storing medications.
- Maintain reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies and applicable regulations.
- Maintain compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures.
- Participate in Environments of Care Quality Indicators (Q1) activities as assigned.
- Demonstrate awareness of legal issues, patient rights and compliance with regulatory and accrediting standards.
- Practice efficient use of supplies.
- Maintain a clear, safe and organized unit.
- Education/Training:
High school diploma or equivalent; successful completion of one of the following:- Surgical Technology program, or
- U.S. Military Medical Core Training, or
- Equivalent on-the-job training program with 7 years recent surgical tech experience.
- Licensure/Certification:
National certification as Surgical Technologist eligible and completed within six months of hire date from one of:- Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) by NBSTSA (NBSTSA) – renewed every 4 years;
- Tech in Surgery - Certified by NCCT – renewed annually.
- Experience:
2-4 years of experience as a Surgical Tech is required.
