Planned clinical services upon licensure include skilled nursing for medication management, wound care, and chronic disease monitoring. Additional services will encompass physical therapy for strength, balance, and mobility;
occupational therapy for safety and independence in daily living; speech therapy for swallowing, cognition, and communication; and home health aide support under RN supervision.
Role Description The Home Health Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) is a part-time, on-site role based in Orlando, FL. The PTA will provide hands-on support to physical therapists by implementing prescribed treatment plans focused on strength, balance, mobility and functional independence in the home setting. Daily responsibilities include assisting with individualized exercise programs, monitoring patient progress, documenting care in accordance with agency and regulatory standards, and communicating changes in patient status to the supervising physical therapist and nursing team.
The PTA will educate patients and caregivers on safe mobility and fall prevention, support interdisciplinary care coordination, and contribute to a compassionate, patient-centered experience.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated skills in physical therapy and rehabilitation, with experience implementing treatment plans under licensed PT supervision.
- Strong patient care and home care skills, including safe mobility assistance and support for functional independence in the home environment.
- Foundational knowledge of medicine as it relates to chronic conditions, post-acute recovery, and safe home-based care.
- Current certification or licensure as a Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) in the state of Florida.
- Experience in home health or similar community-based settings preferred.
- Ability to travel to patient homes within the Orlando, FL area and work effectively in varied home environments.
- Reliable communication, documentation, and time-management skills, with commitment to regulatory and ethical standards.
- Capacity to work collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team and to provide respectful, culturally sensitive care to diverse patients.
