At Mease Dunedin Hospital
, we are dedicated to providing compassionate, high-quality care that improves the health of our community. We are seeking a motivated and compassionate Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) Pool/PRN to support our acute care rehabilitation team. In this role, you will assist Physical Therapists in delivering evidence-based interventions that help patients regain mobility, restore function, and achieve their highest level of independence.
Acute Physical Therapist Assistant
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in implementing treatment plans developed by the Physical Therapist.
- Provide therapeutic exercises, gait training, and functional ADL (Activities of Daily Living) mobility interventions.
- Monitor and document patient progress, reporting changes to the supervising therapist.
- Educate patients and families on exercises and techniques to support recovery.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including nurses, physicians, and occupational therapists.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation in accordance with hospital and regulatory standards.
- Ensure patient safety and comfort during therapy sessions.
- Adhere to infection control and hospital policies.
Qualifications:
- Experience in acute care or hospital setting preferred.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
Requirements:
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- PTA (Physical Therapy Assistant)
- Or PTA (Physical Therapy Assistant) Temporary and licensure within 6 months
- Required Associate's Physical Therapy
- Preferred 1-year Physical Therapy Assistant
