As a Medical Billing & Credentialing Specialist, you'll play a key role in transitioning our billing operations from an external company to an in-house model. This is a unique opportunity to shape the department's workflows and processes as our practice grows. From reviewing claims for accuracy to managing accounts receivable (A/R) and payer credentialing, you'll ensure that our revenue cycle runs smoothly and efficiently.

This is not a coding position; our in-house medical coder codes every visit.

• Review coded claims for completeness and billing accuracy before submission.
• Submit clean claims through the clearinghouse and correct/resubmit rejections.
• Appeal recoverable denials and underpayments before filing deadlines.
• Post ERAs/EOBs and patient payments, keeping contractual adjustments separate from patient responsibility.
• Reconcile daily copays, patient payments, and deposits.
• Send patient statements and follow up on patient balances.
• Manage A/R by payer and aging, following up with commercial, Medicare, and Medicaid payers.
• Identify credit balances and over payments; prepare and process approved refunds.
• Submit CCM claims monthly and HEDIS quality data to payers on time.
• Maintain payer credentialing, including enrollments, CAQH, revalidations, and recredentialing deadlines.
• Collaborate with the coder, provider, and Patient Access to prevent repeat errors.

• 1+ year of medical billing experience, including payment posting, denials, and A/R follow-up.
• Primary care or outpatient experience (preferred).
• Knowledge of EOBs/ERAs, CARC/RARC codes, CPT, and ICD-10.
• Experience with practice management systems and clearinghouses (Tebra/Kareo a plus).
• Credentialing and CAQH experience (strongly preferred).
• Bilingual English/Spanish (strongly preferred).
