Systems Engineer
CDW is seeking a seasoned Director of End User Services to lead the engineering (plan and build) function for enterprise end-user technologies. This role is responsible for translating strategy into scalable, secure, and reliable end-user solutions that support a modern, hybrid workforce.
You will lead a highly skilled engineering team and partner closely with two peer organizations:
- Accelerate Team – Architects focused on business engagement, innovation, and technology evaluation
- Operations Team – Responsible for day-to-day production support, monitoring, and troubleshooting
This role manages 10–12 senior engineers who design, build, and deploy solutions that have been vetted by the Accelerate team and are transitioned into Operations for ongoing support.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the engineering lifecycle (planning, design, build, and deployment) for end-user technology services
- Provide strategic and people leadership to a team of senior engineers, ensuring high performance, accountability, and technical excellence
- Partner with architecture, operations, security, and business stakeholders to deliver scalable, enterprise-ready solutions
- Own resource planning, capacity management, and project execution across multiple concurrent initiatives
- Ensure engineering activities align with ITIL processes, operational readiness, and service transition standards
- Oversee vendor relationships, including managed service providers, contract negotiations, and performance management
- Drive continuous improvement, standardization, and modernization of end-user platforms across the enterprise
This role provides engineering leadership across a broad end-user services portfolio, including:
- Endpoint Devices – Workstations, laptops, and mobile devices
- Collaboration Platforms – Microsoft 365, Teams, and enterprise email
- Audio/Video Solutions – Conference rooms, telehealth platforms, and hybrid-work environments
- Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI)
- Print Services
Required Qualifications
- 8–10+ years of experience in IT infrastructure, end-user computing, or collaboration services within a large enterprise
- 5+ years in a Director-level or senior leadership role, managing engineering or infrastructure teams
- Proven experience leading plan-and-build engineering functions for end-user technology services
- Strong background in resource management, project management, and cross-functional delivery
- Demonstrated experience managing vendors and managed service providers, including contracts and performance
- Working knowledge of ITIL processes and service lifecycle management
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience leading complex, multi-site enterprise initiatives, such as:
- Collaboration platform migrations
- VDI expansions or modern workplace transformations
