Citizenship / Clearance Requirements: U.S. citizenship required. Must possess a current and active Secret security clearance and be able to meet all access requirements for Government Furnished Information (GFI), Government Furnished Equipment (GFE), and Government Furnished Property (GFP).

Description of Work

The System Administrator (Intermediate) provides system administration and cybersecurity support for the Navigation Training Systems Lab (NTSL). The individual supports command and control strategies within cyber environments and ensures the secure, compliant, and reliable operation of networks, servers, and client systems in accordance with Department of Defense and Department of the Navy cybersecurity policies.

Responsibilities
  • Install, configure, operate, and maintain networks, servers, and client workstations supporting NTSL operations
  • Administer networks, network devices, servers, and client machines to ensure availability, reliability, and performance
  • Implement, configure, and support approved application packages
  • Maintain and manage system backups to ensure data integrity and recovery capability
  • Purchase, repair, and replace system components as required to support continued system operations
  • Apply cybersecurity controls and perform information security tasks in accordance with DoDI 8500.01 and DoDI 8510.01
  • Recognize, examine, and respond to potential security violations in accordance with SECNAVINST 5239.19
  • Report cybersecurity incidents in accordance with Department of the Navy and DoD reporting requirements
  • Support Risk Management Framework (RMF) activities and continuous authorization requirements
  • Conduct systems analysis of network and information technology environments
  • Summarize technical data and analysis results into clear, usable technical documentation to support Government decision-makers
  • Maintain system documentation, configuration information, and operational records in accordance with contract and cybersecurity requirements
  • Perform cybersecurity-related customer support functions, including installation, configuration, troubleshooting, and user assistance
  • Provide technical guidance and support in response to Government customer requirements
  • Support training or technical assistance activities related to system and network operations
  • Comply with all personnel security, background investigation, and credentialing requirements
  • Adhere to Operations Security (OPSEC) requirements and safeguard Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI)
  • Follow Government policies for access to DoD installations, IT systems, and classified or sensitive environments
Required Education, Skills, And Experience
  • Must meet Intermediate proficiency level requirements for System Administration IAW DoDM 8140.03
  • CompTIA Security+ certification (required)
  • Minimum five (5) years of relevant system administration experience
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred; relevant experience may be considered in lieu of education where permitted
  • Experience supporting DoD or Federal IT environments preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently while complying with security and operational requirements
