Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and security-focused System Administrator to join our cloud-only organization. This role is critical in ensuring the seamless operation, security, and optimization of our cloud infrastructure and systems. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Azure, Intune, Okta, and Tanium, with a solid understanding of security best practices and regulatory guidelines such as NIST and CMMC.
Dutiesand Functions
- Cloud Infrastructure Management:
- Oversee and maintain the organization’s Azure cloud environment, including resource allocation, monitoring, and optimization.
- Manage identity and access policies through Azure Active Directory (AAD).
- Implement backup and disaster recovery solutions to ensure business continuity.
- Continuously evaluate and recommend improvements to cloud infrastructure performance and cost-efficiency.
- Integrate and manage third-party tools and services within the Azure environment to support business objectives.
- Endpoint and Device Management:
- Implement and manage device policies using Microsoft Intune to ensure secure and compliant endpoint configurations.
- Monitor and troubleshoot endpoint performance, ensuring compliance with organizational policies.
- Maintain an inventory of all organizational devices and ensure proper patch management.
- Automate routine endpoint management tasks to improve efficiency and reduce manual effort.
- Identity and Access Management (IAM):
- Configure and manage Okta for single sign-on (SSO) and multi-factor authentication (MFA).
- Ensure secure user provisioning, de-provisioning, and lifecycle management.
- Regularly review and update IAM policies to meet security standards.
- Develop role-based access control (RBAC) strategies to minimize overprivileged accounts and ensure least privilege principles.
- Endpoint Security:
- Deploy and manage Tanium for endpoint monitoring, threat detection, and compliance.
- Analyze security alerts from Tanium and other tools, implementing appropriate remediation steps.
- Establish and maintain endpoint encryption and secure configuration baselines.
- Perform regular endpoint penetration testing and vulnerability scans to identify and address weaknesses.
- Security and Compliance:
- Ensure systems align with NIST and CMMC guidelines, implementing necessary controls and monitoring mechanisms.
- Conduct regular security audits and vulnerability assessments, remediating identified risks.
- Collaborate with the security team to implement and enforce security policies and practices.
- Stay updated on emerging security threats and trends to proactively protect organizational assets.
- Develop and execute compliance reporting mechanisms to demonstrate adherence to regulatory requirements.
- Incident Response and Monitoring:
- Monitor systems for anomalies, security incidents, and performance issues.
- Respond to and resolve incidents in a timely manner, escalating as necessary.
- Develop and document incident response procedures and coordinate drills to ensure team readiness.
- Conduct root cause analysis for major incidents and implement strategies to prevent recurrence.
- Documentation and Training:
- Maintain detailed system documentation, including configurations, procedures, and policies.
- Provide training and support to internal teams on system use and best practices.
- Document lessons learned from incidents and integrate them into future processes.
- Develop user guides and technical manuals to assist staff in understanding system capabilities and processes.
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent work experience).
Preferred Requirements- 5+ years of experience as a System Administrator, preferably in a cloud-only environment.
- Hands‑on experience with Azure, Intune, Okta, and Tanium.
- Proven track record in implementing and managing security-focused solutions.
- Microsoft Certified:
Azure Administrator Associate - Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP)
- Okta Certified Administrator
- Tanium Certified Operator
