Engineer I / II – Field Services Division, Orange County Utilities

Job Description

Representative Duties / Assignments include:

  • Core member of the Division's leadership team that supports the Division Manager including data management procedural development and oversight; develop, maintain and implement projects to support Divisional priorities and ensure work is being completed efficiently and effectively to meet OCU goals.
  • Develop and analyze improvements to asset data management.
  • Perform one-of-a-kind projects to implement new procedures and enhance operational practices.
  • Develop and maintain Microsoft Power BI dashboards and analytical models to evaluate operational performance, infrastructure condition, and resource allocation.
  • Conduct the design, testing, and implementation of new software systems, databases, and applications, including solutions developed in Python and VBA, ensuring compliance with established standards and operational requirements.
  • Design and implement engineering data solutions, including migration, integration, and validation of large datasets across multiple platforms.
  • Automate technical workflows, reporting processes, and system monitoring tools to streamline processes, reduce manual effort, and improve accuracy.
  • Provide technical guidance and training to staff in the use of applications, databases, and reporting tools.
  • Utilize Microsoft Office applications to prepare reports, presentations, and technical documentation for management and staff.
  • Prepare and deliver findings, dashboards, and recommendations to leadership to support informed decision‑making.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications

Engineer I:
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree in computer engineering, computer science, or information technology and information systems.

Engineer II:
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree in computer engineering, computer science, or information technology and information systems, and one (1) year of utilities or data analysis experience.

Preferences

Experience with Power BI, Python, Maximo, GIS, and Data Analysis.

Salary and Benefits

Pay Grade: 016 – From $26.94 to $35.03
Pay Grade: 018 – From $31.30 to $40.70
FLSA Status:
Exempt
