About the Role:
NGEN is the largest IT services program for the Navy. Under the Service Management, Integration, and Transport (SMIT) portion of NGEN, the Leidos team will deliver the core backbone of the Navy‑Marine Corps Intranet, including cybersecurity services, network operations, service desk, and data transport. The team will support the Navy in unifying its shore‑based networks and data management to improve capability and service while saving significant dollars.
Location:Naval Air Warfare Center Training Systems Division Orlando (NAWCTSD Orlando), 12211 Science Dr, Orlando, FL 32826; primarily in the DeFlorez building and other buildings within a fifteen (15) mile radius.
Reporting:The role reports to the NAWCTSD Information Technology (IT) Division Head and Assistant Contract Technical Representative (ACTR) Staff at NAWCTSD Orlando.
Responsibilities:- Change Virtual Local Area Network (VLAN) settings on network port configurations to support deployment of network devices across the base.
- Define and maintain network architecture and infrastructure.
- Configure and optimize network servers, hubs, routers, and switches.
- Generate switch activity logs and switch capacity reports.
- Recommend cleanup or upgrades of communication closets to streamline switch and patch panel matrices.
- Perform port activation, deactivation, and logical moves on switches for move/add/change (MAC) moves.
- Engage the NMCI Network Operations Center (NOC) for incident/problem support beyond their capabilities.
- Assist with diagnosing and resolving network problems.
- Install, test, maintain, and upgrade network operating system software.
- Apply information security and assurance policies, principles, and practices in the delivery of network services.
- Provide monthly activity reports on tracking trouble calls, outages, port problems, and resolutions for NAWCTSD NAVAIR operations.
- Access VIP Help Desk support services and expedited servicing for NAWCTSD NAVAIR users.
- Serve as primary contact for the Government during Premier Support periods; provide mobile phone when required for 24/7 coverage.
- US Citizen with a DoD Secret Clearance.
- High School diploma with 4+ years of relevant experience; additional education or certifications may be considered.
- Valid DoD 8570 IAT Level II:
Security+ or higher Certification. - Valid CCNA Certification (to be obtained/maintained).
- Demonstrated expertise in IT Enterprise Operations and Network Operations.
- Experience with Microsoft Windows OS, version 10.
- Experience with HP Service Manager, Remedy, or similar Service/Help Desk ticket management software.
- Advanced network troubleshooting skills.

- Lift and carry 50 lbs. up to 100 feet; lift 25 lbs. vertically using ladders.
- Work in confined spaces (raised floors, communication closets), noisy environments (data centers, operations centers), and stand or sit for 8 hours each day.
- Use basic hand tools such as screwdrivers and wrenches for rack mounting active and passive equipment.
- Normal color vision; correctable vision to 20/20 or better.
- Depth perception to judge distance on ladders and in confined spaces.
- Read and use digital test equipment such as OTDR (optical time‑domain reflectometer).
- Drive personal or corporate vehicle with a valid state license to various locations for projects and troubleshooting.
$30.00 – $43.00 per hour.
