Senior Transportation Data Analyst

OverviewJoin VHB's Technology Enablement Team as a Senior Transportation Data Analyst. Work with engineers, scientists, planners, designers, and technologists to provide data‑driven solutions that enhance communities, stimulate economic growth, and promote environmental sustainability.
Key Responsibilities- Engage in big data projects across multiple VHB services.
- Mine and analyze complex structured and unstructured data sets using advanced statistical methods to support data‑driven decision making.
- Develop and maintain dashboards and websites that support large databases, complex search queries, and various business functions using probe data.
- Innovate and build new data processes and large, complex data sets, ensuring data integrity and statistical accuracy.
- Design, develop, test, validate, and analyze models and advanced algorithms to extract optimal value from data.
- Develop and apply customized algorithms or models to key business metrics to improve operations or answer business questions; implement automated processes for scalable models.
- Interpret results, forecast future data trends, and propose strategic business solutions.
- Train and mentor the data management team and other VHB subject matter experts on new or updated procedures.
- Proficiency in managing large datasets and understanding data structures.
- Statistical analysis experience.
- Prescriptive and predictive analysis for operations, planning, and decision making.
- Experience with Databricks, SQL, and data visualization platforms such as Power BI.
- Working with large spatial and non‑spatial datasets, APIs, web services, and cloud data platforms.
- Data manipulation skills using scripting languages such as Python or R.
- Strong ETL process experience.
- Ability to articulate complex technical concepts clearly and effectively to technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
- Experience with connected‑vehicle and cell‑phone data from INRIX, RITIS, HERE, and Tom Tom.
- Awareness of industry regulations and data privacy concerns.
- CDMP (Certified Data Management Professional) or equivalent.
- Databricks accreditation or certification.
- At least 3 years of advanced analytics experience in the engineering/transportation industry, specifically serving DOTs, transportation agencies, or state and federal governments.
- Master’s degree in Data Science, Business Analytics, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or equivalent.
- Legal authorization to work in the U.S. without employer sponsorship.
The base salary range is $98,500 – $148,000 for Washington DC, New York City, and Massachusetts locations. VHB offers a holistic benefits package.
