Role OverviewWe are seeking a Senior Network Engineer for one of our Hospitality clients. This role is essential for enhancing our network infrastructure, implementing new hardware, and providing mentorship. The successful candidate will work on critical projects, including network upgrades and migrations, and serve as a key escalation point for complex technical issues. This position offers the opportunity to influence the direction of the network and work with a variety of technologies in a dynamic environment.
Key Responsibilities- Serve as an escalation point for the help desk and collaborate with field engineers on network operations.
- Lead projects such as migrating from Cisco Meraki to Fortinet SD‑WAN solutions and executing a major Wi‑Fi 7 upgrade.
- Manage a cascade upgrade project, repurposing Wi‑Fi 6 hardware to replace older Wi‑Fi 5 equipment at various properties.
- Deploy a new guest Wi‑Fi captive portal solution.
- Contribute to the long‑term project of cleaning up the BGP edge and WAN carrier side at the data center.
- Assist in the initial setup, auditing, and testing of Azure tenant networks to support the migration of an on‑premise data center.
- Work with the Director of IT Infrastructure on network upgrades, architecture, and planning during less busy periods.
- Provide remote configuration and support for hardware upgrades and installations.
- Travel may be required for large‑scale projects and migrations, estimated at approximately 10% annually.
Experience:
5+ years of experience in network engineering.
- Experience with BGP.
- Proficiency with Fortinet firewalls and related security appliances.
- Experience in a high‑availability environment such as a data center, hospital, or carrier network.
- Knowledge of Cisco and Ruckus networking solutions.
- Experience with guest‑facing Wi‑Fi technologies, particularly in a hospitality, convention, or similar commercial setting.
- Familiarity with Arista network elements.
- Experience with Cisco Meraki cloud‑based deployment.
- Knowledge of Solar Winds for performance monitoring and Service Now for ticketing.
- Experience with Juniper open‑source based routers (BYOS) is a significant plus.
