About the Role
The Vice President, Data Governance and Strategy is a senior executive leader responsible for defining and advancing Disney’s data strategy within Enterprise Technology & Data.
Reporting to the VP, Technology Strategy, this role will position data as a trusted enterprise asset by driving alignment across business units, improving data quality and transparency, and building AI‑ready foundations that support smarter decision‑making, operational excellence, and next‑generation customer experiences.
What You’ll Do Define and lead enterprise data strategy- Establish a clear, scalable data strategy aligned to business growth and innovation priorities
- Drive consistency in data definitions, standards, and governance practices across the company
- Define data ownership, stewardship models, and accountability frameworks
- Implement standards for data quality, transparency, and auditability
- Ensure data is AI‑ready—accurate, traceable, governed, and responsibly sourced
- Partner across teams to support machine learning, generative AI, and advanced analytics use cases
- Partner with Legal, Privacy, and Security to establish governance for data usage, consent, and ethical AI
- Identify and mitigate risks related to data sharing, automation, and emerging technologies
- Champion data literacy, stewardship, and accountability across the organization
- Lead change initiatives to position data as a core enterprise capability
- Build and develop a strong team aligned to enterprise priorities
- Inspire collaboration and connect teams to broader business outcomes
Required Qualifications
- 12+ years of experience, including significant leadership experience
- Proven experience leading enterprise data governance and strategy at scale
- Track record of driving cross‑functional alignment across business and technical stakeholders
- Strong leadership capability with experience leading organizational change and transformation
- Demonstrated ability to influence at the executive level
- Deep understanding of data governance frameworks, data quality, and data standardization
- Excellent communication and storytelling skills
- Advanced degree or relevant certifications
- Experience with Data Governance, AI, advanced analytics and emerging data technologies
- Proven ability to build and scale high‑performing data teams
- Recognized thought leadership in data, governance and analytics
- Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, Engineering, Analytics or a related field, or equivalent experience
The hiring range for this position in Glendale, CA or Orlando, FL is $228,700 - $36,700 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job‑related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long‑term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
