Requirements:
- Experience collecting, evaluating and analyzing data.
- Experience organizing data into a logical format for presentation.
- Experience using Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Valid driver’s license and be willing to travel, when necessary, within the state of Florida and occasionally overnight on short notice.
Preferences:
- One (1) year or more experience in the insurance industry, or professional work experience related to the insurance business, within the last five (5) years.
- Experience in writing professional and comprehensive reports.
- Experience applying the Florida Statutes, rules and regulations directly or indirectly relating to insurance matters.
- Post-secondary degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in insurance or risk management.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS FOR THIS POSITION INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING REQUIRED ENTRY LEVEL
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Knowledge of the methods of data collection and analysis.
- Ability to identify the nature of problems and use logic and analysis to develop different approaches to resolve them.
- Ability to organize data into logical format for presentation in reports, documents and other written materials.
- Ability to understand and apply Florida Statutes, rules, and regulations pertaining to insurance matters.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers and the public.
- Ability to operate a motor vehicle in a safe manner.
SPECIAL NOTES:
Employment starts at the annual salary of $52,530.00.
Employees of the Department of Financial Services are paid on a monthly pay cycle.
This position requires a security background check, including fingerprints, and a driving record review as a condition of employment.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES :
Responsible for investigating complex insurance cases involving alleged violations of the Florida Insurance Code and Department Rules by licensees in the areas of property & casualty insurance, life & health insurance, bail bonds, title, viatical settlements, claims adjusting practices and activities related to unauthorized insurers and preparing investigative reports in accordance with Bureau standards and expectations.
Analyzes complaints and investigates the activities and conduct of insurance agents, adjusters and other related entities. This includes on-site investigations review, examination, and evaluation of evidentiary documents obtained pertaining to licenses and the insurance entities they represent. Documents include but are not limited to: insurance contracts, forms, endorsements, underwritten practices, claims forms, advertising, premium handling, claims handling procedures, sales practices, licensing requirements, record keeping methods, and other related matters.
Responsible for conducting interviews, gathering evidence, taking affidavits, interpreting statutes and rules, and writing comprehensive reports for the purpose of initiating disciplinary action or prosecution by the Department against licenses.
