Job Overview
Bitman O'Brien PLLC is seeking an attorney with a minimum of two years of experience and a strong background in commercial litigation. Experience in construction law or construction‑related disputes is highly preferred. The ideal candidate is self‑driven, business‑minded, and capable of independently managing complex cases from intake through resolution.
Duties- Lead and manage all phases of litigation from inception through resolution, including pleadings, discovery, motion practice, trial preparation, and settlement negotiations.
- Conduct thorough legal research using Lexis Nexis and Westlaw to support case strategy and ensure compliance with current laws and regulations.
- Draft clear and persuasive legal documents such as pleadings, motions, briefs, contracts, and memoranda with precision and attention to detail.
- Develop case strategies by analyzing facts, evidence, and applicable laws across multiple practice areas including contracts, construction law, consumer law, and commercial litigation.
- Negotiate settlements effectively while advocating for clients’ best interests in various dispute resolution settings.
- Collaborate with clients to understand their needs and provide tailored legal advice on complex issues spanning multiple jurisdictions.
- Maintain meticulous case files and documentation in accordance with firm policies and legal standards.
- Stay current on evolving laws by engaging in ongoing legal research using tools like Westlaw and Lexis Nexis.
- Support junior attorneys and paralegals by providing guidance on legal research techniques and drafting standards.
- Participate in client meetings, court appearances, mediations, arbitrations, and other proceedings as required.
- Ensure compliance with all ethical standards and uphold the firm’s reputation for integrity and excellence.
- J.D. from an accredited law school.
- Active license in good standing to practice law.
- Minimum of 2 years of litigation experience, with a focus on commercial matters.
- Existing book of clients preferred.
- Construction law or construction litigation experience strongly preferred.
- Strong analytical, writing, and courtroom advocacy skills.
- Ability to manage complex caseloads and meet deadlines.
- Professional presence and excellent communication skills.
