Position Summary

The Transportation Specialist III provides logistics support for Gas and Steam Turbine projects throughout the United States and the Americas. This role is responsible for coordinating transportation, logistics, customs compliance, import/export activities, and freight management while ensuring adherence to U.S. regulatory requirements and project delivery commitments. The position serves as a subject matter expert in transportation and logistics processes and provides guidance and support to internal stakeholders and external partners.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Coordinate and support transportation, logistics, and customs requirements for domestic and international projects
  • Develop and maintain transportation provider networks capable of supporting planned and unplanned project activities
  • Communicate with freight forwarders, steamship lines, terminals, warehouses, and carriers to track shipments and confirm cargo availability
  • Analyze and coordinate transportation solutions, including rail, heavy haul trucking, Foreign Trade Zone (FTZ), route analysis, and logistics planning
  • Maintain transportation logs and ensure all required shipment documentation is properly uploaded and archived
  • Review import and export documentation, including commercial invoices, packing lists, bills of lading, certificates, declarations, and purchase orders for accuracy and completeness
  • Prepare and verify export documentation to ensure compliance with classification, valuation, origin, and regulatory requirements
  • Coordinate export shipments and monitor freight movement through final delivery
  • Investigate, audit, and manage freight invoices, ensuring accuracy and compliance with contracted rates
  • Provide freight cost reporting and transportation analysis to internal customers
  • Secure documentation required by U.S. Customs and Border Protection, the Bureau of Industry and Security, and other regulatory agencies
  • Evaluate transportation methods, carrier performance, routing, warehouse locations, and consolidation opportunities to optimize cost and service
  • Analyze current shipping procedures and recommend improvements that reduce costs and improve delivery performance
  • Serve as a liaison between customers, vendors, carriers, and internal departments to coordinate complex logistics activities
  • Manage transportation claims related to damages, delays, and other shipment issues
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Communicate effectively with vendors, global sourcing, accounting, sales, and project teams to resolve discrepancies and support project execution
  • Provide after-hours and weekend support when required
  • Partner with Transportation Management to support departmental goals, continuous improvement initiatives, and operational excellence

Knowledge, Skills, and Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business, or a related field preferred
  • Minimum of eight (8) years of logistics, transportation, import/export, or supply chain experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Strong knowledge of import/export regulations, customs compliance, and international logistics operations
  • Experience with FTZ, TIB, HTS classifications, free trade programs, and customs regulations
