Role Overview
The PMO Training & Onboarding Project Manager sits at the center of how project professionals learn, grow, and integrate into the organization. This role is responsible for building a structured, repeatable learning ecosystem for project managers and related roles, from first-day onboarding through ongoing development.
Combining practical project management experience with strong instructional design skills, this person translates real-world delivery needs, governance expectations, and standard methodologies into clear, engaging learning experiences. The role partners closely with the Certification Program Administrator and other PMO leaders to ensure that training content, certification pathways, and onboarding experiences are aligned with PMO standards and broader enterprise objectives.
Key Responsibilities
Design and deliver training programs that reinforce PMO standards, methodologies, and tools
Simplify complex governance models and processes into practical learning content
Develop and maintain training assets (guides, e-learning, videos, job aids)
Lead live and virtual sessions, including PMO onboarding and methodology training
Continuously update content based on new processes, tools, and feedback
Create structured onboarding plans (30/60/90-day roadmaps, checklists, learning paths)
Coordinate onboarding with HR, hiring managers, and team leads
Align training with PMO certification requirements and role competencies
Collaborate with functional leaders and SMEs to ensure real-world relevance
Track and report training effectiveness, adoption, and capability gaps
Maintain a centralized repository of training materials and ensure version control
Support change initiatives by embedding new processes into training
Promote a learning culture through office hours, Q&A sessions, and peer sharing
Ensure compliance with company policies and confidentiality standards
Ability to travel as needed
Requirements
Bachelor's degree required;
Master's in Business, Education, Organizational Development, or related field preferred
5+ years of experience in a PMO, Learning & Development, or similar role combining project management with training and onboarding responsibilities (or equivalent experience)
PMP certification preferred; additional certifications in program management, agile, change management, or instructional design are a plus
Strong communication skills with the ability to simplify complex concepts, write clear materials, and deliver engaging presentations
Comfortable analyzing data, interpreting charts, and using metrics to measure success
Skilled at problem-solving and identifying practical solutions for training and onboarding needs
Proficient in MS Office, SharePoint, and Teams; experience with LMS platforms and e-learning tools like Articulate strongly preferred
Familiarity with Power BI, Visio, or similar tools is a plus
