JOB SUMMARY:

Responsible for overseeing all third‑party horticulture initiatives including landscaping, pest control management, seasonal maintenance efforts and sustainment initiatives and the relevant vendors across Universal Kids Resort (UKR). Ensures that all horticulture and pest control maintenance activities meet the highest possible quality standards for Universal and the city of Frisco. Determines planned work and vendor initiatives for landscaped areas and leads seasonal weather condition sustainment initiatives for landscaping/pest control across UKR property.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manages the partnership with third‑party vendors and serves as key liaison by monitoring and providing direction regarding all contractual obligations such as show quality, operating hours, resort cleanliness, safety, Guest service, and financial reporting. Monitors the quality and effectiveness of landscaping work of the contracted vendor and the use of horticulture tools, equipment, and material availability. Oversees equipment distribution and preventive maintenance to all equipment, emergency planning and response, vendor/supplier inspections, and landscape licensing requirements.
  • Oversees all third‑party landscape management, pest control, irrigation system maintenance, arboriculture, and resort‑wide horticulture initiatives. Creates and disseminates vendor work schedules and ensures all projects are completed within designated time frames to UKR standards. Coordinates the planning of projects through detailed scope of work, written procedures, budget, estimated time, material, and resources needed to successfully complete work orders and capital projects.

    Produces standardized documentation and standards to ensure vendors complete work to Universal specifications. Develops documents, SOPs, and job plans by researching, developing, analyzing, and documenting best practices and standards regarding Horticulture, Pest Control, Irrigation, Projects, and Arboriculture and disseminates related information in the creation of the Horticulture PQS system.
  • Coordinates with other UKR departments and tracks work orders using Maximo system to support all contracted labor and non‑labor expenses. Utilizes Maximo systems to update essential data for the daily operation of contracted work. Completes regular inspection of property to identify maintenance needs and safety concerns.
  • Focuses on fiscal responsibility, ensuring budget spending is controlled and reported properly for third‑party services. Monitors budgets weekly to ensure contracted labor is correctly allocated and optimize where possible, building in mitigation plans for budget overages. Prepares allotted budgets to include daily operation and LRP (Long Range Planning) for future development.
  • Coordinates and creates area designs and seasonal horticulture themes across Universal Kids Resort, ensuring adherence to Universal and city of Frisco standards. Manages the selection of new plant material species for existing and future horticulture rehabilitation projects to assure long term sustainability without compromise of specific diversity required to effectively support area themes and brand identity.
  • Assists with overall Facilities related projects, area development rehabilitations, and seasonal weather condition sustainment initiatives. Supports special event horticulture needs as directed.
  • Understand and actively participate in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following established UDX policy, procedures, training, and team member involvement activities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

  • Pest Control Operators License and/or Certified Arborist is preferred.

EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related field preferred.

EXPERIENCE:

  • 3+ years of experience in landscaping, horticulture, pest management or a related field required, experience with vendor management is preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
